I got this recently, but I am absolutely new.
Took me three CPU games to figure out you buy items by right clicking, not left clicking >.<
Also, how do you deny (correct term, right?) your own creeps?
I right click them, but I don't kill them.
I really like SingSing, not as a player only, but as a person. His stream is worth watching just because of his comments on the playstyle of othersMagicphoenix wrote:
Oh also, does anyone actively follow the pro scene here?
We can go a few games if you want.Magicphoenix wrote:
PS : I play DotA 2 24/7 so if you want somebody to play with all the time ... xD

also my Dota 2 keys have been given out, sorry if you PM'd me and didn't get one. I had plenty of people message me about this.
Man, that was crazy. I've never seen a game like that. Even gold differences with a huge KD differences.Shadoras wrote:
btw did you watch Mousesports vs Evil Geniuses? Best game of the year imo ^^

Might want to try this, http://puu.sh/mNe7
Otherwise wait until tomorrow evening till new patch is out and try reinstall
are you sure that you're clicking transfer items? They changes the button/hotkeys around, so shits different (again). idk why they can't leave it T_Tfoulcoon wrote:
they broke shit... my recipe for assault cuiras wouldnt complete itself, and the courier will not retrieve items for me. i have to manually drop them and pick them up... so weird... all other courier commands work aside from transfer items
how many hours have you played? maybe it has something to do with that, dunnoSoulclenz wrote:
I still don't understand why I have no keys to give away, I've been in the beta since it started. Is there any reason for that?
Edit: Also Glass, have you tried installing Dota2 from a different steam client? I read on the forums that doing that solved crashing problems for some people.
It should, but its weird. I have 800 hours and I haven't gotten my 2 extra, but people who have <300 do T_TMikey wrote:

Ah ok, that would explain it then. I didn't think about that.Magicphoenix wrote:
You get 2 beta keys extra if you were chosen in the DotA2-Steam survey, if you were selected by some kind of lottery/invited by a friend you don't !
hmm nope i was invited by a friend, and have received 4 extra so..Magicphoenix wrote:

what? you can cancel animation perfectly fine in DoTA2Magicphoenix wrote:
If you mean his animations, yeah - his razes are a lot slower, his arm takes longer to swing and in DotA 2 you are unable to cancel spells after an animation.
Meaning - With Maiden/Lina you did a spell in DotA 1 which swings forever, that's why you move right after the spell to cancel the animation and do your next attack faster. In DotA 2 it got fixed, that's why DotA 2 Shadow Fiends razes are slower !
yeah I know what you're talking about. You can do it in DoTA2 o.OMagicphoenix wrote:
I think I put it in the wrong way.
If you are familiar with DotA / WC 3 you know that after - for example - Lina casts any spell, the spell comes instantly but the arm still swings in the air after the spell for like 1 more second. In that time you do absolutely nothing but watch her after the spell, unless you make her do an action right after the spell so she would cancel the arm-forward animation.
tl;dr?

His mouth opens and jolts forward before he spits his attack. I wouldn't say DotA animations are more detailed than DotA2 at all.Tshemmp wrote:
I have the feeling animations are very poor in DOTA 2 in general. For example Viper's attack animation: He is just standing around and out of nowhere a attack missile comes out of him. This is the only thing I really don't like about DOTA 2. Animations were so much more detailed in DotA Allstars.
Perhaps. Valve isn't going to get it 100% replicated, I wouldn't expect them to.Tshemmp wrote:
Well, ofcourse there is a little animation, but compared to DotA it is nothing.
Seriously wtf are you talking about, it does exist in DOTA 2, and yes you did put it in a wrong way, it's called (casting) backswing. The reason it's not as noticable as it is on some heroes is because DotA and DOTA 2 do not have the exact same cosmetic animation.Magicphoenix wrote:
It doesn't even exist in DotA 2
Indeed Vipers attack animation is very small, there are several complaints about it --> http://dev.dota2.com/showthread.php?t=14722.Tshemmp wrote:

Shadow Fiends ulti has a 1 second cast time. (not a channel)Tshemmp wrote:
Uh, ok, I didn't know. But is this intended? Or is this just another strange thing you don't ask about like Sand King's ulti going on cooldown if cancelled while channeling but not Shadow Fiend's ulti or Furi's port?
Wasn't a friend. It was a random guy. I was playing the Queen of Pain and I see that she is a semi-carry/ganker. I would ask my friend what each hero was before I played them.Tshemmp wrote:
First of all it depends on the heroes you two were playing. If he was carry and you supporter he was right. Otherwise...lol, nice "friend".
Second is: play matchmaking! If you are good enough you will soon play games with less retards.
lol if that ticked you off I'd recommend not playing computer games.hizachan wrote:
I shall say, I WILL NEVER PLAY DOTA2 AGAIN! Man, I tried it the other day with a friend and we were doing bot games. This asshole thought he was the shit and talked shit to me because I KSed him ONCE. I was just starting the damn game and he rages at me. Well, I went to kill someone on my own and he just walks up to him and smacks him and say's "karma". I'm thinking "is this guy for real?" He was 18/1 at the end of the game and was going on about how you shouldn't KS and that's a tip when playing DOTA2. Seriously?! The community on DOTA so far, is shit.
I play LoL. I was just saying that why would someone say that about a damn bot game.yeahyeahyeahhh wrote:

When playing against a huskar, the best counter is picking a hero which has a longer range than him and/or has a good escape mechanism.bmin11 wrote:
Because we don't always get a sane teammate. Expect for the extreme.
P.S. I always find myself having trouble fighting against a Husker. What would be a good way to counter it, except for chain stunning it?
Offending a whole community because of one case is not very nice.hizachan wrote:

Recommended items, for the most part are pretty accurate, there are a few exceptions for example, if a hero isn't recommended to buy a BKB, and you're fighting against a team with an SK or Enigma or some form of massive aoe, buying that BKB fairly quickly might be a wise idea no matter what hero you're playing. i would never ever recommend buying boots as a first item, huge sign of a player that doesn't know what he's doing, and the gain from those boots is extremely small, getting branches and appropriate amount of regen will keep your pressence in the lane much higher, i can only think of a few times where early boots pays off (trying to get first blood as jugg/CM for example).kanye west wrote:
I've played a few games and have a few questions.
How "good" are the recommended items? Is it better to start with a relatively expensive item (like boots) and one tango vs tango, salve, and branches?
Is smartcast the same in DOTA as in LoL?
Is early game generally the same as LoL (afk farm)?
What are some mid/lategame objectives besides towers/Roshan?
Is it better to focus on farming or ganking/killing heroes?
Is there some way to teleport to fountain instead of walking back and forth?
What's the most common/widely accepted metagame?
I think killing Roshan is very high risk/medium reward. Am I missing something?
Are the roles generally similar between DOTA/LoL? For example, does the support still get 0 CS and buy all the wards etc etc
tl;dr - I'm a noob at this game and am asking questions that are probably blatantly obvious to most of you
- Recommended items are pretty much good to go with. Some aren't but they'll be fine in low tier games.kanye west wrote:
