Well, its still incredibly awesome to revive some old classics, especially for who (like me) dont have their old consoles anymore.
I cant wait to play my Jak e Daxter collection, just ordered my copy today, and i can assure you that a good part of my chilhood is contained in Jak e Dexter,im still sad that they didnt include Jak X,that was one heck of a racing game, and i hate racing games.

Actually, there was one. It was rated PG by the ACB bizzarely enough and I have a copy with that same rating.
I've just heard that it's one of the rarest PS3 games that exist, which probably explains its scarcity.

It's just that my copy of mk1 is PG. Here's a link if you don't believe me:
http://www.classification.gov.au/www/co ... enDocument
Yet again, PEGI rated it 12, ESRB gave it T, even CERO gave it a B.
Compared to mk2 which got 16 from PEGI, M from ESRB, and C from CERO.

So I finally started up Asura's Wrath. Played Part 1 (Episode 1-6). Holy fucking shit, I underestimated how awesome this game would be. I knew this game would be outrageous, but I never thought I'd be fighting a duel when I don't have any arms. And then kick ass. The fighting is so fun in this, too. It's so fast-paced and exaggerated. If this is just a movie, then it is the greatest movie I'll ever fucking see. I did underestimate how many cutscenes there would be in this game, but I don't give a shit cause every cutscene is awesome. Or hilarious. Or hilariously awesome.

Ugh... there would be a "get to level 99" trophy. sigh...

2 more trophies until the mk2 plat!

Hopefully I can get it before Tuesday for ToGf~

Can't decide if I should get Tales of Graces F on release or just wait a bit. It's not like I lack things to do, but it's been soooo loong since I've played a good tales game.

Bought Skyscraper because it was so bad and the opening was hilariously bad. Long story short, it broke a controller somehow.
I was really expecting Gungrave to be a lot better though.

Really should have bought Maximo or Shinobi...

Last chapter on mk2 right now.
I still haven't gotten Noire join my party yet since there are barely any quests to raise Lastation's shares in Lastation and yet Arfoire doesn't have any shares to mooch off anymore since I already got rid of all of them.
Well, at least I'm almost done. Been playing it for about a week now.

EDIT: Just beat the game with the Normal and Human/Makers Endings. Time to get those other endings if I can.

Oh, Noire can join your party. I just didn't think I'd end up locking her off by accident on my first playthrough. Did too many quests that raised Planeptune's shares in Lastation and I couldn't fix it sadly.
Got her in a New Game+ though.

That sucks lmfao! I didn't do any quests really, so I was good to go. All I needed to do was actually get Lastation shares to 50+ or w.e.

On another note, what is your favourite team so far? I do not specifically mean effective, unless your favourite just so happens to be such. Mine is: Uni, Noire, Nepgear, and Rom

YodaSnipe wrote:

Mine is:
Nepgear (Yeah... OP)
Neptune (Not as OP as Nepgear but slightly OP even without good skills. Still has the awesome jokes)
Nisa (Not as useless as she was in the first one so +1 for her. Good skills)
Compa (Healer!)

So yeah, pretty much the first bunch you get. (IF replaced by Neptune)
No one else was worthy of replacing them. (Except for Compa when all the enemies were missing my whole team) No need for you, Compa.
YodaSnipe
Kay so today I discovered THE MOST RIDICULOUS THING EVER in HDN MK2.

Kay here it is:
Have Nepgear Partner supporting in the back behind Neptune. Nepgear has a support skill that allows you to break the 9999 damage cap. Now have two vanguard members pop two psp chargers on Neptune. Hit the boss with the Couple Skill and you'll be doing like 7 hits of about 40,000-70,000 damage ON THE FIRST TURN!!!

My team is now:

Noire (Leader) - I use her for str buffs/psp chargers/her epic sword attack thingy (forget what it's called)
Uni - I use her for psp chargers/and to take hits from paralyzer enemies.
Rom - Backup Healer just in case, and does fantastic magic damage.
Neptune with Nepgear damage break support - Cast Couple Skill.

I can take out bosses in one turn at like level 50 it's great. Even really really tough ones.

I wanted to keep Nisa, but seriously no CPU is just weak imo. However, she is just so awesome regardless. Compa's voice kills her character, i hate that damn desu~ness

Edit: I just discovered that there are a couple of damage limit breaking items sooo back to nepgear rapin'!!!
Mafiamaster
I've never gotten around to using couple skills. At first I thought, they had to be close together on the field and when I did find out about how to use them, I was already on the conquest ending route which you don't obtain any couple skills since "oooo sorry, not true ending route".

So yeah, my late game was just Nepgear spamming Celestial Severance on all the bosses while the others slowly chip at its' HP/GP.
About ~1.5 minutes for ~200,000 exp on a specfic boss fight? Might've been a whole lot faster with your 'no damage limit' rings.
YodaSnipe
yeah the damage limit breakers soooo OP
Mafiamaster
Tales of Graces f

I fell asleep playing it. When I woke up, I was at the start of a boss battle. Boss was too hard on moderate difficulty and after 3 game overs, I turned off the PS3 and tossed my controller at the wall. Pissed, I fell back asleep.

Woke up the next morning (today), changed the difficulty to Normal. Still got demolished by this certain boss. Changed difficulty to Easy and beat the boss. Saved, then stopped playing because I wasn't satisfied.

The damage this boss does on moderate is ridiculous. 3/4 of my health gone, seriously... what is this? Stunned for 5 seconds, can't move at all, he proceeds to combo me further resulting in death. Then goes ahead and combos the other teammates and they easily die from it. Life potion someone, and I'm stuck for like 3 seconds giving the enemy a 1-shot chance.

Other bosses: I revive a person, they die instantly again because they head straight for the boss after waking up. Or even, the boss goes back to take their life again.

Summary: I like the game very much!
YodaSnipe
Well, challenge of the difficulties aside. I thought it was pretty bad tbh. I mean that entire beginning thing where you play as a kid doing kid things, like r u srs? no, I don't want that in my games thanks. If the other tales games are as shitty as this, then I won't even bother playing them. /disappointed :(
Topic Starter
Seibei4211
Well, it's not really fair to judge an entire RPG based on the beginning. They almost always take several hours to start revving up. You didn't even finish the Final Fantasy XIII tutorial for, like, 12 chapters. But I haven't played Graces yet and I haven't seen any videos of it yet. And it's not really fair to judge the entire Tales series based on one game, since there's over a dozen of the things, and they're not all the same. Unless you don't like some of the very, very basic things about the game. Tales of Symphonia would be one of the best Tales games. I've heard Tales of the Abyss is very good, but I haven't done that yet.
Ivalset
Abyss blows Symphonia out of the water.

Or maybe I just despise most of Symphonia's cast!

In any case, Graces' combat system is really nice and complex and the game gets a million times better once the childhood arc ends.

Mafiamaster wrote:

Seibei4211 wrote:

Those are both signs of a very poorly designed game. RPGs are supposed to engage nearly immediately (within the first 2 hours) with their mechanics if not their storyline. The fact that we've accepted what FF13 brought to the table is a sign that we're all lowering our standards. The fact that I both acknowledge and accept the problem suggests I'm one of the worst, too.
Topic Starter
Seibei4211
Well, it's not that an RPG is usually bad when it starts out, it's just that you haven't unlocked the abilities or side dungeons that make the game really awesome and challenging and stuff. It takes a while for the games to stop holding your hands. Symphonia, for example. really kicks in once you get access to the flying things (I forget the name). Golden Sun kicks in once you get a decent selection of Djinn. Doesn't Disgaea really start kicking into high gear after you beat the game? In Kingdoms of Amalur, I started having even more fun once I learned some new skills and abilities.
rust45

Ivalset wrote:

Agreed, the battle system basically took Symphonia's already great one and added everything it needed.
However... the story was a bit slow in a lot of places.

Anyway, it's a good thing I came here since I'm now reminded of Graces, I got to try it out soon.
Dieathan
There! That's about almost all the endings in mk2. Can't be bothered with the Conquest ending right now but its good enough.
Now to get onto Catherine.
YodaSnipe
Whoa whoa whoa I didn't say that the other tales games were as bad as graces F based on the beginning of this game. I was simply stating that *IF* the other games were like that then I wouldn't bother playing them. I agree with awp on the whole poor game design part, and I am also at fault for loving FF13. Maybe cause I'm a cutscene pixelwhore... Anyways, I didn't get that much enjoyment out of Graces F's combat system, my buddy plays a lot of tales games and says abyss, symphonia and vesperia (i think it's those three idr) were a lot better overall and that I should play them first then judge the series :p

Oh, and for me, (kinda pathetic but w.e I'm not ashamed) if I don't like the character designs, then chances are I'm not going to play the game. ie. Graces F.

and when I say character design I mean the colours, art, clothing, style, personalities, etc of every character.

T_T I'm so simple minded... Gimme hot girls a semi-interesting story, and fun combat and I'll be hooked for hours /points at HDN MK2

Man, Dragon's Dogma demo is so fuckin' short. What the fuck.

I'm not sure if I liked what I played because it was literally 10 minutes long and went into absolutely 0 depth about anything. It'd be fairly simple for me to assume that the game is just "grapple onto these niggas and mash square", even though I know there is more to the game.

Character creator was nice though.

Yes. You can't choose the clothing in the creator in the demo, but you can change features and stuff. You can change quite a lot of details. And this is the first game that basically lets you play as, like, a pre-teen if you want. I made a young Asian chick cause I thought that'd be awesome to see this tiny, skinny chick fighting huge fuck-off monsters. And it was awesome. I spent waaaay more time in the character creator than I did in the actual game though. I like that the game will let you import that character into the full game though. I spent a ton of time making a character in the Kingdoms of Amalur demo, then had to recreate the character in the main game.

There were two big things that I didn't like about the game. You can't target enemies, which was annoying during the griffon fight, and you can't dodge roll, which was also annoying during the griffon fight.
Ivalset
What? I'm pretty sure archers have a dodge roll. Should be R1 + X.

Not that you'd have enough time to figure that out because you literally spend 4 minutes playing as an archer aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Topic Starter
Seibei4211
Wait, seriously? That would've been helpful to know. That griffon kicked my ass. I almost died a couple of times and used up most of my healing items. Then it turned to night so I could barely even see the thing. And I couldn't even climb onto the thing until it was almost dead. I liked how my pawn would throw me into the air all the time, and miss every time.
Ivalset
Dude, really? As soon as it swooped in, I hopped on its back and started slashing its wings. I guess my mage pawn lit everyone's weapons on fire, so maybe that made them slightly more effective. Mashed light attack maybe thirty times, hanging on for dear life while carving up the wings. Eventually it fell, then I...kept on mashing light attack to carve it up. It tried to get up, except now everyone in my party except for the mage decided to grab onto it, and it quickly went crashing again. Carved up again, then a few love taps to finish it off.

Jesus Selphie, I didn't even know it could turn to night.
Topic Starter
Seibei4211
Well, I was under the impression that I could just shoot the wing enough and it'd come off so it'd just stay on the ground. I didn't think I needed to rush the whole jumping onto him thing. When I realized that the wing wasn't gonna come off, I would keep getting hit when I got near him and he'd just fly away before I could get up. Or he'd just land way far away from me and fly off before I could get to him. He only got floored about twice during the fight, and the first time I was just trying to shoot his wings off. So yeah, I was under the impression that this game might have a little more variety than "grab onto monster and mash square". So sue me.
Ivalset

Seibei4211 wrote:

So I picked up Jak & Daxter Collection and Tales of Graces f. I've already beaten Jak 1. Until I played that game again, I always thought I really liked that game. That game is damned frustrating. A platforming game that doesn't let you look down. What a great idea. This is the first time an HD Collection game hasn't been as good as I remembered. Anyway, whatever. Two more Jaks to go. I haven't even played half of 2 and any of 3, so they can't let me down like the first one did.

Seibei4211
Oh my God, Max Payne 3 is the fucking worst. I've only done 3 levels out of 14 and I don't think I can bring myself to play another. It's just so fucking pointless. This game is great if you played Red Dead Redemption and thought "Hey, I really like this shooting mechanic. I want to do this for 8 hours straight with a thousand long cutscenes interrupting me every 3 minutes." And they put collectibles in this game, but basically force you to use a guide, because you don't get time to look. If you spend too long in one room, you will often get a game over for the dumbest reasons. Your game doesn't pause when you open the weapon wheel, and there's no other way to switch guns. And there's only four gun options, so I don't know why it wasn't just put on the D-Pad. You can't switch shoulders, you can't go around corners while staying in cover and you can't break out of cover by running around corners. It's a shooting game, but they give you finite health and they give you about the same amount of healing items as a Resident Evil game. And if you wanted to completely make the game pointless, you could turn on the snap aiming and breeze through every room. But if you don't, the aiming sucks so bad that you get shot up like a motherfucker.

And I already know this game's going to get some fantastic reviews, too. Crazy.
awp
There is a mix of good and bad in there. Finite health good, lack of shoulder switching bad. Lack of pause mid-combat good, inappropriate lack of hotkeys bad.

Didn't know that game came out though. Thought it wasn't due for a while.
Ivalset
The only thing I ever heard about Max Payne 3 before its release was about its multiplayer and how it had bullet time working in mp.

Maybe the multiplayer is infinitely better than the singleplayer?!

Probably not though.
Topic Starter
Seibei4211
I'm guessing the MP is gonna be about as good as it was in GTA IV or Red Dead. I'm not sure how they'd make it good cause you can't jump or climb in this game. A flat map sounds boring compared to something like Uncharted where you get to climb around during MP.

And awp, you can pause, just not while switching weapons. They do have this interesting, sorta useless thing where when you pause, you can move the camera around and the menu will go away until you stop moving the camera. So if you wanted, you could have really, really unpaused combat.

Oh, and there was this one part of a level where I had to do some precision shooting under time pressure with a laser sighted gun. That sounds nice, except the laser sight is fucking useless. You know how in RE4/RE5, when you're aiming at an enemy, you see a clear dot on them? None of that. As far as I was concerned, I had to aim slightly to the right of where I thought the bullets should've been going.

Oh, and I forgot to mention the biggest fucking annoyance in the game. After nearly every single fucking room, Max Payne or one of his stupid buddies will tell me to hurry up. If you spend more than two seconds in the room after killing everyone in there, he'll just tell himself how he doesn't have time to be dicking around. And there was one part where I had to run to the exit or something, so I sprinted, and my jackass friend was like, "You call that running?!" I didn't even know where to go either, so he bitched about my running another dozen times or something.
Nharox
Is Uncharted the only game which managed to include shoulder switching? It's one of the best things you can add to a 3rd person shooter.
adam2046
So I've been playing Yakuza: Dead Souls the last few days and it's not very good, the shooting mechanics are arse, there's a load screen every few seconds, you make 90% of your money selling anime figurines you picked up from zombies, AI partners require constant baby sitting, and yet I played over 20 hours of this and will most likely play more.

So I've played, like, 35 hours of Tales of Graces so far. It's ok. I'd rank it around Legendia or Symphonia 2. There are some parts about it that I really like though. I like how you can skip cutscenes, including those "conversation cutscenes" that aren't true cutscenes. I don't have to sit there and auto-skip tons of text. Sophie is fucking awesome, so there's that. I guess that's basically it. If they had just put those two things in Vesperia, that game would have been perfect. The battle system in this game is a little unnecessarily deep. Since there are a ton of titles for doing the same arte repeatedly, I just pick an arte and do it 800 times and it's been working so far. The only thing that really matters is using the correct arte (A or B) against an enemy that is weak/very weak to it. Or you could ignore that and kill it anyway. Also, you get way too many fucking titles in this game. I have to do a lot of grinding and I'm still nowhere near maxing out all of the skills. In Vesperia, they paced it a bit so you could actually learn the skills.

Edit: Oh yeah, Eleth Mixer. That thing is really cool. Cooking things during battles and making materials out of nothing is nice.
Ivalset
I'm pretty sure Pascal is the best.

But yeah, I dunno. Something about Graces f prevents me from really enjoying it, and I can't quite figure out what it is.

Yeah, Pascal's pretty cool. I like Sophie better overall cause she's a cool character and party member, whereas Pascal isn't that great in battles. Her health is so stupid low and she's got no healing spells to make up for it. It's kind of crazy that Sophie gets high HP, high attack power, and has healing/revive spells.

Not sure why I haven't been pre-ordering from the site before... I'm stuck with just the standard HDN2 game =(

I might just get Dragon's Dogma too even though I don't know anything about it/haven't played the demo.

Just started watching a live stream of dragon's dogma at http://www.own3d.tv/live/33395/GyoruSPY

I'm seriously on the fence but the more I watch of it the better it looks. I'll probably end up getting it.

Might get Dragon's Dogma. I'm currently waiting for how well it does with reviews.

I take it back. I said Pascal was a bad party member. I've been going through the different characters to get their "Use X character in 100 battles" titles. Pascal has some fucking kickass A-Artes. She can pretty much hit shit from miles away. Her health's not much of an issue if you hit people from all the way across the screen. Hubert is also fucking awesome to play as. He's got some pretty ridiculous combos, and his dual pistols are nice. I'm starting to think Asbel's not the best person to control.

Edit: I played as Sophie finally. It should be illegal to be as fast and strong as she is. She's the most fun to play out of any of them.

Pascal can rack up the damage quite a bit if you use her B artes correctly. Granted I mostly use "Fangirl Dream".

Demo for Max Anarchy (Anarchy Reigns) came out on JP psn last night. Game is super fun and it's fully translated in English with an option in the menus. It's like a crazy brawler.

p.s. mathilda is the best

So it finally came through the mail and I opened up the shipping box. I removed the bubble wrap and all I saw was the limited edition box with the game inside and I was like "where's the shirt?" I then proceeded to write an email to the company as to why it wasn't included. Before clicking the send button, I decided to remove the wrapping from the box and open it up. The shirt was inside there! A shirt fitted itself inside that box! What the heck!

I thought the barrel picture would be more realistic as it did on the site... but doesn't matter, got shirt.

Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One? That Lara Croft: Guardian of Light game that's supposed to be decent? Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, I guess? Not to mention good games like Just Cause 2, Saints Row 2, and Sideway: New York. And inFamous 2, if you're into that sort of thing. Sony's finally made a good case for PS+. This is just the excuse I need to finally get it.

By the way, did they get rid of full game trials or am I just not finding any? They're under Exclusives...

I'm not sure if I should subscribe to PS+ or just spend the money I'd use for it on games.

That's the mentality I had for the past two years, but now they've finally put up a bunch of quality games that instantly give me a profit over my $50. There's $300 worth of games on there for free. The R&C game I wanna get is $60. Any games I get after that is just a bonus. This isn't even including any discounts I'll get for games I wanna buy anyway. They've actually gotten better about discounting decent games, like Journey. Even if there's only one game on this list of 12 that you wanna play, but for some reason don't wanna play any others, then you've still got an entire year to make up the difference. So chances are you'd probably get other shit to make up for it. Actually, since you don't get a lot of games on day 1, there are probably a lot of older games that they'll put up for free that you might wanna get.

The problem is my perceived value of digital games is lower than physical copies and is lowered even further since I am not actually purchasing the games.
Also it's the Australian PSN, which basically gets screwed over constantly.
