Haven't been able to play in matchmaking recently. It just outright refuses to get a game going, and people just insta-leave practice games. :c

i wanted a beta so bad like a month ago ..
but after seeing the international (dota 2) and WDC (dota 1) it's reaaally clear that dota1 it's way better atleast till now than dota 2 .. the second one needs to get all the heroes to be as awesome as dota 1 is right now, so i guess i can wait for the release of it :p.

The community can get pretty garbage at sometimes, the important thing is to not get sucked into it. At this point i see greifing/flaming as a part of the game. I know it's ridiculous and can get frustrating sometimes, but what you have to do is just ignore it and get on with the next game. There is nothing you can do about it, and if you take part of it, then you're just as much of a retard as they are.
This is still in beta though, hopefully it will get better when a solid matchmaking system gets implemented.

LoL isn't as bad as some people make it out to be, but I personally prefer HoN and DotA 2. I couldn't get into the original DotA due to the inconveniences that come with it (like hotkeys, for starters.) But after playing HoN, it's easy to transition to DotA 2 and find heroes similar to ones I played in HoN.

there is no rice factor in lol. the map is significantly smaller. heroes spells (which are all ridiculously similiar to eachother, eg some sort of leap, a bonus attack, etc) are all mainly teamplay focused, and are simply casted asap and require no real level of timing or planning to execute well. dota and hon (which are making some truelly sexy and original heroes atm) have much more dynamic play and a MUCH higher skill cap. ps bristleback is awesome

Lich isn't an orginal name. If they used lich's hero name Kel'Thuzard then it would've been a problem, but there is nothing about Lich. ANd DoTA2 doesn't use the name rexxar, he's just simply beastmaster
Also, all this is about, from my low knowledge of this kind of stuff and what I've read, is Blizzard is opposing trademarking and that all. They are not trying to get the name DoTA for themselves. Just means Blizzard and anyone else would be able to name their game 'DoTA'.

Well they can still surprise us. I didn't see lasts week "Outworld Destroyer" release coming, so basically every hero could be next ^^
Some heroes will take longer though, as they have to invent a whole new model because the one of the original was very WC3 orientated (like ES or Bara [and Tech maybe])

It's actually quite surprising how Bara looks so similar to the WCIII version, but I guess only little could have been done.

1. being a complete deadweight on the team not doing shit excvept planting some mines getting a few novelty kills
2. surviving till late game with substantial farm being able to shut down ANY push and prolong a game far beyond what it should be, usually winning it for the team because of how broken stasis are

You have creeps/ranged heroes (if you don't play a terrible pub) on your side. They can destroy mines with one hit. I don't see a problem here.
And scouting/warding is very effective, too. You will know where Techies has his mines and where NOT to go. Yes, you can use your brain. You don't really HAVE to run in his traps.

You have to press A (Attack) manually and then left click on a creep, if he has more than 50% hp it won't work

@Faust: no, my pub games are typically around 45 minutes but a close game can end up that long.
@Fabi: yeah they're pretty bad. Even my viper build was bad, the mjolnir i didnt really need but as i was starting my assault cuirass sven decided to buy one, and rather than waste my hyperstone i got it for the shock effect. It actually turned out very well as we easily wiped the enemy team in their base when i used it with manta, and my mkb bash went off a lot lol. To be honest, I should have skipped assault cuirass to begin with and went with butterfly, but my team was really bad so I felt like we needed the attack speed and armor orb.
EDIT: also as far as my build goes, I will say that it was fun having more attack speed than usual on viper. Everyone melted so fast when i used my manta style

Sand King, Viper, and Dazzle are probably my favorites to play
