I don't really see anything to be excited about in this game yet, it's just the same DotA AllStars everyone've been playing for years with a different engine and model set (just like HoN was in beginning).

I'm interested in the complete list of bonus features this will have compared to original and if it'll be a good reason to purchase it.

Oh right, normal attacks damage is now fixed :D

Na`Vi played really well, they deserved to win imo.
Game 2 of EHOME vs Na`Vi was nice. (the one EH won)

Scythe.SG was lacking in their loser bracket final against EH as compared to their previous games.

Axe is not that hard to counter during laning phase and needs a lot of positioning work to do any damage in a teamfight.

His finisher is great, yes, but he wasn't needed in any of the picks I've seen during matches.

Considering he needs to waste a slot and 2k gold for a blink dagger to be a good initiator while other heroes got innate initiating abilities, no wonder he wasn't picked.

The one thing that keeps me from liking these kind of games is the community. You need to be an expert in the game if you don't want to be verbally abused by your team. Didn't Dota2 fixed this somewhat with matchmaking and tutorials?

There's matchmaking, there will be tutorials, and there isn't a hard recording on stats that can be viewed by other players (as far as I know, so less abuse that way). But have no mistake, the community is still shit, everyone is still an asshole. It's best to start out with friends, you get used to it.

EDIT: thought I should put this in early: I used my invites already.

I wish I could answer that with any clue as to what I was actually talking about.
It won't pick up players when there is a more than large enough pool of players in matchmaking at any given moment.

None. Players appear and disappear, but over the span of 30 min and staying at about 4 players... I don't think so.

i wanted a beta so bad like a month ago ..



but after seeing the international (dota 2) and WDC (dota 1) it's reaaally clear that dota1 it's way better atleast till now than dota 2 .. the second one needs to get all the heroes to be as awesome as dota 1 is right now, so i guess i can wait for the release of it :p.

The community can get pretty garbage at sometimes, the important thing is to not get sucked into it. At this point i see greifing/flaming as a part of the game. I know it's ridiculous and can get frustrating sometimes, but what you have to do is just ignore it and get on with the next game. There is nothing you can do about it, and if you take part of it, then you're just as much of a retard as they are.

This is still in beta though, hopefully it will get better when a solid matchmaking system gets implemented.

for a game to have fun and everything it's awesome, but i'm talking about things like dreamhack or every tournament moving to dota 2 right now, or even us playing competitive or closed games.


what i'm actually trying to say it's that the game it's not ready yet to a competitive scene without all the heroes released.

The point being made is that one was inspired by the original DotA and the other is quite literally a remake of it. Accusing the remake of copying the game inspired by the original that the remake is a remake of... is silly.

LoL isn't as bad as some people make it out to be, but I personally prefer HoN and DotA 2. I couldn't get into the original DotA due to the inconveniences that come with it (like hotkeys, for starters.) But after playing HoN, it's easy to transition to DotA 2 and find heroes similar to ones I played in HoN.

Speaking of which, I want Bristleback.

there is no rice factor in lol. the map is significantly smaller. heroes spells (which are all ridiculously similiar to eachother, eg some sort of leap, a bonus attack, etc) are all mainly teamplay focused, and are simply casted asap and require no real level of timing or planning to execute well. dota and hon (which are making some truelly sexy and original heroes atm) have much more dynamic play and a MUCH higher skill cap. ps bristleback is awesome

Many champions have push/pull skills...admittedly, there aren't any champions that have it as their entire purpose, but his skill set seems like Lee's second E + Vayne E / Blitz Q in one + dat passive + global Orianna ult

With my little knowledge to this subject, it's hard for me to understand Blizzard's point. I thought WCIII is more of a tool to the creation of DotA and the credit would go to who developed the map DotA. It almost sounds like Adobe criticizing the artist who used Photoshop to create a drawing.

Question, isn't IceFrog working for Valve right now for DotA 2?

actually its a lot different to that photoshop reference, you see in dota heroes like Rexxar (beastmaster) and lich are both original names from wc3 so im sure blizz has a case there

Lich isn't an orginal name. If they used lich's hero name Kel'Thuzard then it would've been a problem, but there is nothing about Lich. ANd DoTA2 doesn't use the name rexxar, he's just simply beastmaster

Also, all this is about, from my low knowledge of this kind of stuff and what I've read, is Blizzard is opposing trademarking and that all. They are not trying to get the name DoTA for themselves. Just means Blizzard and anyone else would be able to name their game 'DoTA'.

Well they can still surprise us. I didn't see lasts week "Outworld Destroyer" release coming, so basically every hero could be next ^^
Some heroes will take longer though, as they have to invent a whole new model because the one of the original was very WC3 orientated (like ES or Bara [and Tech maybe])

1. being a complete deadweight on the team not doing shit excvept planting some mines getting a few novelty kills
2. surviving till late game with substantial farm being able to shut down ANY push and prolong a game far beyond what it should be, usually winning it for the team because of how broken stasis are
