Chances are many players can't afford an expensive gaming keyboard, I fall into that category.
The main thing besides the different switch type is the USB polling rate, by default in Windows this is set to 125Hz, Razer keyboards and similar USB devices override this setting to get the maximum input rate possible.

Recently, I found this useful little app "UsbRate.exe", what it does is lets you change the global USB device polling rate, it is designed for smoother mouse movement but also affects keyboard input greatly.

Be warned though, setting to 500Hz is probably safest, 1000Hz has massive impact on system performance and hardware functioning.
I are not responsible for if this eats your computer and kills your cats

No viruses btw (norton and similar might say it is though)

I use 500Hz now and can stream much smoother than before (and a little higher BPM :3)

I've been using 1000Mhz and haven't noticed any hardware failure and etc yet :p

This works great for me on Windows 7 x86 and x64: http://www.ngohq.com/news/15043-how-to- ... a-7-a.html

It's not a simple process though, but works :D

Just put 2 fingers into a 220V power plug and you can stream like a boss on any keyboard.

Well, the author's site doesn't exist anymore, his server and domain have gone down, the rest are all mirror sites full of ads D:
The one I got it from was full of NSFW porn xD

That keyboard (and probably touchpad) would most likely count as PS/2 instead of USB. In any case, I heard it was possible to "overclock" the PS/2 port as well, but idk.

There was a way to do it back on Win 95/98/2000, unfortunately though it will not work on XP or higher.

BTW: I just tried 1000Hz, I can pass 190BPM streams :D

hmm, with the link I provided, that might be only to alter the mouse's polling rate, I'm not sure (it mentions a filter on device thing). If it means anything though, I just reinstalled windows, and didn't use the 1000mhz polling thing, and my streaming seems the same. The mouse is different though.

laptops have ps/2 kb/touchpads (in majority of laptops anyway). I think only very old laptops contain an actual PS/2 port though for external stuff.

Also that USB polling rate link I linked, it can filter on specific devices. I can't get it to work with my new mouse though, not sure what's up with that, but I'm not worried about it.
