Do you have one of those fancy, high-end computers? Do you love being able to play the latest video games with everything maxed out? Do you spend 98% of the time in front of your awesome PC browsing the web and writing documents, wishing there was some way you could put that computing power to use while showing everyone how 1337 your overclock is?

Then you need Folding@home, the latest breakthrough in e-peen flexing! Just download a client here, join team #162618 (the osu! team), and watch you CPU/GPU temp fly. :D
Also, it helps cure diseases like Alzheimer's, Mad Cow and some Cancers, but that's not important.

Download: Within Temptation - The Unforgiving (Armin) [rhythm is just a click away].osu

I'll join, but don't expect much until I watercool my current system in a month or so. Curse my ancient 65nm CPU and its inefficiency.

And I'm scared as to how much my GPU temp will fly... 76C at idle lol :3

EDIT: Lol @ PS3-specific client. Overpowered monster ftl ._.

On the PS3, I thought it was Home the community.

I'm so proud of myself.

Also, it took me like 1 week to finish one Work Unit. Do I fail?

All I've got is a wimpy laptop, but slow and steady is better than nothing. I'll sign up whenever the site stops being down. "Address not found!?" Whaddaya mean not found!? The main stanford.edu page works... (http://folding.stanford.edu)

update: google cache FTW :)

For those of you who have the latest graphix and want to complete WUs quickly, try the GPU client.

What are the minimum system requirements?

All computers can contribute to Folding@home. However, if the computer is too slow (e.g. wasn't bought in the last 3-4 years or so), the computer might not be fast enough to make the deadlines of typical work units. A Pentium 3 450 MHz or newer equivalent computer (with SSE) is able to complete work units before they expire.
Alright, let's lag! Loginer, that was a pretty bad description.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but how can I reconfigure the app on my PS3 so I can join the uber 1337 Osu! team?

Yeah, you got me. This program is a hoax designed to steal your RAM by infecting your computer with well-trained pixies.

Here are some userbars to help promote the project.

Just paste these codes at your signature and you're good to go!

Configuration of the Playstation 3 for joining the osu! folding@home team:

Launch the Life with Playstation item from your media bar, and once you are in, you'll either go into the Live channel or the Folding @ Home. If you start in the Live channel, hold the button and while holding the button down, use the d-pad to select Folding @ Home.

Once you are in the Folding @ Home app, you should see the cute little molecule sputtering around (as well as some useless numbers on the side, but whatever). Press the △ button to go into the menu. Select Current Channel, then select Identity, and Change Donor Name. Enter the name you want to be recognized as in the osu! team and press Start. After that's done, select the Join an Existing Team item. Here you put the number 162618 to join the osu! team, and press Start.

Now just back out of the menus and get to folding!! (It will switch to a computational only screen with the logo, and your progress after you stop pressing buttons for a few minutes, and in this state it can compute faster since it doesn't have to display anything).

The moment they had some ranking system and points made me get this. But let's see how far I'll go.

Yes. When running at 100% processor usage, the CPU client will slow down everything, and the GPU client will slow down graphically intensive stuff. You can restrict the amount of CPU/GPU power the client is allowed to use, but it'll take much longer to finish working units if you lower the usage percent significantly. Still, you can always pause/close the client if you're going to play a game or something.

Can't the program only run when my PC is idle?
