Alright let me go through this entire thing cause maybe I'm leaving a key point out and not realizing it.
I received my role PM and learned that I am a Poor Hero. As that role, I get a bullet to use every time someone aligned with mafia gets lynched.
If you read the story, you see at the bottom it shows that someone mafia aligned was lynched pregame. I sent a PM to LunaticMara asking if I could have a bullet since technically someone mafia aligned was lynched.
Fishie updated the story, changing the part from the handgun to the baseball bat.
I received my role PM and learned that I am a Poor Hero. As that role, I get a bullet to use every time someone aligned with mafia gets lynched.

Adding onto that, the reason for the mass claim is so that with each role we can strategically plan out certain scenarios. If something goes wrong or doesn't happen right we'll know exactly where to look, not to mention things like counter-claiming are possible.
It's hard for someone to make up a role on the spot, and it'd be harder to make up a role after everyone claims before you. If they claim first, you have to hope someone wont counter-claim what you did.

That would be nice for me, but it's not really all that helpful to anyone else. The mafia probably wouldn't want to kill me (what's the point, I can still win with them), and it doesn't really confirm your role.
It would help me maybe find out exactly how being drunk effects my role?
But would it really help you if no one targets me or the random other person? Example: say you swap Me and faceman, but your drunken role unknowingly causes you to swap Luna and Chris instead.

Chris: How does the story changing from a mafia gun killing random non-player townie to a mafia baseball bat confirm you as town? This change would have zero effect on what you claim your role is, because you get bullets when a mafia is lynched. Nothing to do with the mafia shooting people.
