i think that current ranking system is too heavy for a mapper like me.
MATs doesnt give bubbles easily (even though there arent big problems)
As time passes by, it will be more difficult for a map to get ranked.

as for people those are friends of MATs, they got bubble easily ,and at last they may got a 7 or 8 something rating, while some pending map could obviously get something 9+
index-san's fuwa fuwa time
the 08_team_bourdon's map
banvi's mapand so many more...are good maps to me and also to many players. why arent they got ranked or even bubble?

bubbles werent given just because the map isnt good enough.......these are good reasons.
BUT as for a beginner, it is TOO TOUGH.

maybe, just MAY BE, Mats and Bats should change their point of view...try to appreciate others work rather than saying "your map is NOT GOOD ENOUGH! not good at all!!!!"
once, they are bad at mapping also, once, they arent good at modding.
once, theyve got a map that is 7+ rating
they are the one who know what im saying, although my english is not fluent at all.

when you look at the maps made by MATs or BATs when they are still beginners, obviously youll find that arent so many make awesome map at first, but still, STILL , the map is ranked. why cant?

"it's not your map is unrankable, it's just doesnt worth my bubble" dude, im sad.

When have they said that?

Also map rating means nothing. Don't worry too much about it. Just about the majority gives 10 to anime songs and not so high rating for english songs :s

"it's not your map is unrankable, it's just doesnt worth my bubble"
To be honest, I think bubbles should be given when the map is deemed really good. I mean if you think about it. If all MATs were to bubble maps they think its good instead of really thinking it over, we have like 10+ pages of bubbles :|

As for your map...I would say the average rank is like 2-4 months? So don't expect a rank within like a week >_> Just have fun mapping instead of thinking about ranking ._.

Honestly i hope this could be applied to all beatmaps we have.
I agree that it's damn hard for a new mapper to get his/her map ranked. Too tough? maybe... but how could you change? (except for being really active to "talk" and make people know you, also we call this "脸熟党“)

Just state my point here:
The only thing to decide whether a map should be ranked or not, is its quality. There's not a specific line for it, but any other things shouldn't break it.

lol 马屁党?they just wanna befriend with MATs to gain priority

the quality thing is fine, as for player, if they feel happy or something similar about your map, then youre a good mapper(thats what i think)
rather than making MATs feel happy, i think player(s) are the god of this game.

like government issue, they shouldnt be the king of a country, but they should serve the people....make their people feel comfortable
but then at last, its THEM to feel comfortable.

edited: actually someone got banned because he has some big opinion about the ranking system....l o l at all
for me, im working hard to make my map/post threads etc. so i do think that i wouldnt get banned

Going to quote something from Odaril's signature:
When you do something in a map that violates guidelines, and the only thing you can think of to justify it is "they are only guidelines", there is something seriously wrong.
Now let's change this slightly:

When you mod a map that violates guidelines/rules, and the only thing you can think of to justify it is "it is unrankable", there is something seriously wrong.
That's all I have to say.

All lines in my mod posts are suggestions if and only if you can give me a good reason. "No" is not a good reason.
You really have to be able to defend your choices with good reasons. If your answer is "it's unrankable" then make sure you know why it's unrankable.

Once you have a bubble, you should be able to ask the MAT/BAT who popped it to rebubble, or ask the MAT/BAT who bubbled it to rebubble if the bubble was self popped. Rechecks are easy compared to modding a new map, and usually only takes a few minutes.

If you don't actively search for mods, you won't get your map ranked.

Hey someone quoted my sig so I feel obliged to post ohoho

Bubbles and Ranks are given when a map is both rankable and of an acceptable standard. The point of ranking is to point out high quality maps - if we bubbled anything that didn't break the ranking guidelines, overall map quality would be much lower and maps wouldn't live up to their greatest potential.

Any ranking system will be innately easier for a well known mapper - this is unavoidable. No matter how much they try to avoid it, the MAT and BAT are more likely to check maps they know are going to be decent then to gamble on a newer mapper. MAT and BAT do (or at least should), however, stick with maps that they have modded until they are of a good enough standard to be bubbled, so really you only need to get hold of one before you're well on your way to ranking. Getting the help of a single MAT/BAT is easy with a little patience - you just have to ask around politely and not be too sad if you're turned down. You'll get there eventually.

Remember that there are an awful lot more maps and mappers than there are MAT and BAT, so ranking should naturally take a reasonably long time. Patience, persistence and politeness are the key.

As a side note, talking about ratings is pretty meaningless. A map's quality is too subjective to be easily rated anyway, let alone rating skew due to song, mapper etc.

Not true. Even though I'm quite an experienced mapper and have friends among mats and bats, it's still a challenge for me to get a bubble or rank a map :D Really depends on how hard you try. Took me 5 months for my latest ranked map to get ranked. Some people get their maps ranked in like 3 weeks :O
RandomJibberish
I never said it wasn't a challenge, heh. I sometimes take a while getting my maps ranked too, but I know I could probably get things done faster if I cared enough and spent more time pushing them. Lots of factors go into ranking speed, but I'm sure any mapper could get a decent quality map ranked within a couple of months if they worked hard enough.

oh~right XD

I think there should be a division of BATs/MATs that focus on newer mappers and try to make their first beatmapping experience a good one, because my first experience was so confusing I kinda just gave up on the song because I was sick of adding/removing NCs and notes that ruined patterns
