How does this dan course work?
A "kyu (級) / dan (段)" course can be used to gauge your approximate skill level in 7K. The Dan courses are separated into three types,
Normal Kyu,
Regular (Insane) Dan, and
LN (Insane) Dan.
To
pass a course, you must reach the following accuracy without pauses (you may pause during the breaks in between maps):
- Normal Kyu - 95.00% (S) or above
- Insane Regular - 96.00% or above
- Insane LN - 95.00% (S) or above
The Normal Kyu courses are designed for casual 7K players or those just starting out 7K and are grouped into the following categories:
- The 1st map is a
singles rice map, which mostly contains non-chord regular notes.
- The 2nd map is a
hybrid style map, which is a basic hybrid of regular notes and long notes.
- The 3rd map is a
chord rice map, which contains many two or more simultaneous notes.
- The 4th map is a
long note style map, which features long note based patterns.
The Regular Dan courses feature four maps, each testing a range of different skillsets:
- The 1st map is a
jack style map, which tests your abilities on jackhammer patterns such as minijacks, long jacks, and chordjacks.
- The 2nd map is a
tech style map, which tests your abilities on a variety of technical patterns and looks at your versatility overall.
- The 3rd map is a
speed style map, which tests your abilities on fast streams / burst like patterns and looks at your finger speed.
- The 4th map is a
consistency / endurance style map, which tests your abilities on extended chordstreams and tests your stamina.
The LN (Long Note) Dan courses also feature four maps, each testing a range of different skillsets:
- The 1st map is a
general style map, which tests your abilities on different kinds of common long note patterns.
- The 2nd map is a
tech style map, which tests your abilities on a variety of technical LN patterns and looks at your versatility overall.
- The 3rd map is an
inverse style map, which tests your abilities on long note inversions and tests your finger independence to the max.
- The 4th map is a
release style map, which tests your abilities on LN releases and tricky patterns that test your reading ability and finger coordination.
All the beatmaps that were used to compile these dan courses are maps from various mappers. All credits go to the respective mappers. Thanks to everyone who helped me with finding suitable maps for the dan courses. Special thanks goes to Evening for the original bgs, and additional thanks to tailsdk for the new Dan backgrounds!
