I think a good factor in that blandness is probably your circle placements. You didn't quite use the entire screen, https://imgur.com/a/91KZCRs , so like the circles are only going to be in 75% of the screen, which meant less dynamics. This is an example of a good ranked map thats fun to play, https://imgur.com/a/356PUgu , The patterns don't feel repetitive and boring. Point is to use more of the playing field, it will help making your map more fun.
noted. i'll try spreading out some notes while maintaining the flow i'm going with.
(see, at the resolution i normally play at, the edges of the playfield are actually partly off-screen, and i kind of thought it would be unrankable if i went too far. turns out i was a bit too cautious... hehe... will be editing in 16:9 resolution from now on)
Wont open new post for this but this is still very present in all of your difficulties. It could be worth looking at the difficulties of mappers you enjoy to see how they utilize the space of the playfield. It makes maps more fun and more interesting to play when they are not entirely focused around the center of the playfield. It can also avoid issues in lower diffs like over lapping sliders and readability issues.
Actually now that I look at it, i think a good portion of this map is overmapping. When playing, some streams just felt like they shouldn't be there.
And I'll be a bit vague here, but I think this map is pretty bland. All the patterns play the same, the kiai felt similar to the filler patterns,
except for like this part, 01:10:122 (1,2,3,4,5) - , I really like those patterns and that actually gave good emphasis on those sounds.
(Sidenote: I won't mod the lower diffs because i cant play/mod lower diffs so im clueless)
on the overmapping, the map is quite heavy on bursts, i admit. but, as the top difficulty, i feel like i should represent the frequent 1/4 beats (or 1/8, in this case) that i hear throughout the song. although, again, it's up for interpretation. i'll see what i can do with the patterns though.
