This would be super helpful and would stop some of the bitching~

Hasn't this been suggested before? o.o
Anyways, +1

I would like this because a lot of the maps I play are from video games, this would help because then I would know if someone has one the maps that I have.

This is a good idea. The technique I use these days is "give host to the person with the fewest maps". I'd to not have to do this! +1

I think the way it was is good enough, now it's just kinda confusing.

I made sure to search before posting, but to err is human. I apologize in advance if someone has suggested this before.

In addition to showing the number of players that do or don't have the same beatmaps as you, the ability to share a beatmap from client to client would be excellent.

P2P will be available when .osz2 is out IIRC

Is that so?

I had checked the stickies, but saw no mention of it. Can anyone confirm this?

but how about rather than over-complicating the idea/matter, make it just a simple message in multiplayer song select saying
"Warning, X Players lack this Beatmap" where the update map message usually is~

No, I think it should only show the maps that everyone has when you want it to, and show all the maps when you don't really care.

Because the way your saying isn't gonna really help at all. If everyone has the same quality of internet and one person doesn't have the map, it will take just as long to wait as if everyone was lacking the map.

P.S. Also, if the warning message is where it shows the status of the map, then the person selecting won't be able to update the map if they need to.

I'd add some votes for this if I had any!

This especially helps when some people in the room are on a bad connection and the host needs to find a map that those people have.
Pheon
It sounds like a good idea, but just filtering it like that seems a bit.. blegh to me. How about changing the colour of the beatmap-selection-background from grey to coloured according to the people who have the map? It'd look better, beginner-friendlier and it seems more interesting that way to me ^^

That sounds an awful lot like StepMania Online to me...

bump!

no, please do not do this. bumping does not help unless you want a quick denial, which is what i am here to give:

this would require a LOT of data to be sent between clients, and considering the join/quit rate of lobby i don't believe it is feasible. just think this way: if there are 40 people in the lobby, this would mean 320kb every time you attempt to change the active song. that's quite a lot of data, there.
