[Archived] osu! suddenly cannot open

Problem Details:
I play osu! on mac OS X El Capitan, its been fine for the past few days when I've been playing it, but now whenever I try to open to application, it says:
osu! has crashed
restart
report an issue

oh, I just read through it, so its illegal characters, would you identify which characters are illegal on mac?
and where to find them?

Take a look at this support page. Generally, you'd want to remove any special support characters like colons, symbols, and things like that, if you have any. Try editing something you suspect looks suspicious and see where that leads you?

I've looked through that but the only illegal characters seem to be in the song and beatmap files which shouldn't really be a problem.

There had been instances of the editor crashing because of that problem.
Are you use the special characters in beatmap files doesn't cause it?

You can temporarily move those maps and see if that's what causes the crash

well, I have made a backup of all my songs and skins so I could probably remove them all temporarily and see if osu! will open.
