At random time intervals of playing osu, my laptop will flat out crash. The keyboard and mouse won't work, the screen freezes, the sound glitches out (making a long beeping sound) and the only way to restore the computer to normal is to manually restart the laptop. I have tried updating all of my video and audio drivers, as well as limiting fps to 120 (whenever I limit to 60 fps I start getting lag). Another interesting thing to note is that it never happens during play, but while I'm in menus searching for beatmaps to play/in a multi lobby. The crash has become frequent over the ~1 month I've been playing (almost every day I play), and assuming overheating I got a fan pointed at it while I play, but that hasn't been working either.

If anyone has any ideas or solutions, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Can you give your specs?
Well, try this: Hold shift while opening osu! and don't let go until a config window pops up, and select Stable(Fallback) under the Release stream.
You might be experiencing all these problems because your PC isn't able to handle it.

Thanks for the response, I'll make sure to keep this thread updated if it ever happens again.

My Laptop Specs:
Dell Inspiron 13 7000 Series

Processor: Intel Core i5-6200U CPU @ 2.30GHz
OS: Windows 10 Home 64 Bit
Graphics: Intel HD Graphics 520
Dntm8kmeeatu
Could you also specify the amount of memory.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the RAM. I have 8 gigs of RAM, which should be more than enough to run osu! Also it just crashed again after about an hour of play, right after i finished a song. So the Stable (Fallback) version didn't really help it seems.

The laptop crashed while playing again, but this time it was slightly different from other times. Main difference was that it happened while i was playing a beatmap, but during a break period. Also it froze and took about 5 seconds for the sound to glitch out. Other than that, there's no difference between this crash and the others, and my laptop is still crashing frequently (around 1 time per play session).

Its been a little over 2 weeks since my last post to this thread, but I wanted to do (hopefully) one last update on this thread just in case someone encounters the same problem that I did. The crashes went on for about a week after my last post and the entire time I was doing research on different forums looking for people with similar problems with the same laptop (Dell Inspiron 13 7353). I didn't get much help to rectify the crashes, but I found a few other people with the same laptop having a similar problem, albiet not on osu!, but on other "graphically intense" programs. I updated drivers as they came out and fiddled around with the different compatibilty modes, running osu! in administrator, and hoped for the best. I haven't had a crash for about a week, so my best guess is that either a video card driver update decided to fix it, or that somehow running in specifically Windows XP (Service Pack 3) compatibility mode made it all better. Thanks for giving me a few suggestions and hopefully I won't have to post here again :D.

I've had similar crashes to the ones you described on my laptop and It happens outside of osu! as well. However they don't occur as often for me. I have been speculating that this might be a general windows 10 issue since this isn't something that happens specifically with osu!
