dt player here, i did notice the tap dash. it did serve a small problem but nothing too impossible/annoying to deal with, don't think it requires to be fixed, from a player perspective, it was still nice-ish to play didn't really bother was only a couple tries to figure it out.
edit: mike pls map for dt
While I agree that ascendance's way to approach the veto and mod it was probably not the best as at times he went more into a personal way than a uhh "respectful BN profile".
"Essentially, all the points raised in Ascendance's veto are simply things that try to make the map prioritize sound representation over gameplay more. It doesn't provide any argument as to why the map's current "rhythm" & "game" balance is problematic to players, but presents itself as if it inherently and objectively was, which is my issue."
-Although it doesn't say explicitly why it's problematic to players, it's pretty clear the message that's transmitted through his veto. Which to me I just summary it as a quality issue.
Which I want to point out the BN message to the veto: "it's all "loud sound needs hyperdash" on a map that's all about the general feeling. jesus christ this mode will never get out of this hole". isn't the whole feeling of the map is emphasizing the sounds? it's also disappointing that instead of arguing back to contribute against the veto they just go "jesus christ this mode will never get out of this hole".
I don't have much else to add that hasn't being said, but really, the idea is good, having patterns that are quite different to current meta where only 9* maps are getting ranked and are for only 5 players to fc, is really good, is just the execution of it that was poorly to me. There's a lot of room to improve as you said @kyptoric, to which if the map is not perfect and has more room to improve, why would the 2 bn push the map to qualified?
A map is good when the song and patterns complement each other in a way that the player can vibe to it, which is kinda what I was left on from here and my personal point of view to it. After reading ascendance's mod on the veto I can agree on most of the stuff he points out and can only hope the mapper can review it and grow, even if he declines it and decide to do other pattern that he'd like to try, or even don't change it at all, but that would only make room for more people to discuss (if any).
The way you're doing the 1/8 triples makes sense to me for it to be on 00:34:005 as in 00:34:005 (4,5,6) - into 00:34:182 (7) - single. while keeping 00:33:829 (3) - as a single note
I don't disagree on it being unfortunate to only be 3/4 sliders on that bookmarked kiai, but as you say isn't this more on the mapper's style as Seija's the one who mostly did 3/4 sliders (if not only him so far) in the kiais.
I can work around to try and fit some of these if I like them, but don't think I'll remove the 3/4 from that kiai if I end up not adding any.
edit: added some that would fit imo + hitsounded it. Might be good enough to have 1st kiai with 3/4, second with none and 3rd with some too.
moved stuff around a bit here. Basically reduced the distance on 02:51:123 (4,5) - and added a hdash to 02:51:735 (9) - because finisher sound after the little whistles and now this should also play good 02:51:735 (9,1) -
Yeah salads so far it's been a huge struggle determining the dash distances. I'll take a bigger look once I wake up with the feedback Greaper gave me. I'll update the map for all the other changes.
applied the first one, on the second one I'm not sure if it was me moving stuff and forgot about it but rn it's the same as the change of first post. Leaving open for your opinion on it again.
