1. Post in queue when open, I'm slow so expect up to months of waiting for a reply. I will contact you. If I don't, don't insist me. 2. I mod your map. I may take more than one day to mod or check the whole set (yay work), be patient. 3. After my mod, poke me whenever you feel ready. Even if you don't have a 2nd I can still put a nomination in your map. 4. ??? 5. Qualified map.
Closed. Please be patient (Pending in the queue means I haven't looked at the map yet, feel free to request to other nominators)
Dake's words of wisdom (according with his experience in 202X modding)
General modding tips Be nice. Mod maps like you'd want your maps modded.
Try to not use negative words while modding (bad, boring, wrong, etc) without a reason. It's not okay to just say something like "this pattern is bad xd" or "this section is boring, change pls", these kind of suggestions leave the mapper clueless about what, why and how to do, and in some cases consider it rude, depending on the words. Instead:
X is wrong. -> X is wrong because Y. You can do Z because W.
X is bad. -> X is not good because Y. I think Z could be better because W.
X is boring. -> Y would be more interesting to play instead X because Z. Fun is subjective.
Don't expect the mapper to map the song how you would map it. If necessary, replay the map as many times as you need to try to understand their approach ("Uh, mapper isn't following Y here, maybe it's following Z? Let's replay..." ). In doubt, ask the mapper themselves, be it in map discussion ("I think you're following X here so I suggest Y because Z") or in a message.
Try to avoid imperative suggestions ("You must do X", "Change to Y", etc.), unless unrankables, something objectively wrong, or what could be mapper's mistakes. The more friendly the mod post is, the more likely the mapper is to read your suggestion and maybe apply it.
About "spread" If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck. Focus on analyzing the overall difficulty of the map, not per sections. Don't rely too much on tools like Modding Assistant/Verifier to check spread, use them to get a general overview of the difficulties, not to judge spread per sections.
About "breaks" Please stop forcing breaks for sake of rankability, they are like the missing piece in a 1000-piece puzzle. Sometimes the 'long time without break' is caused for:
A) Mapper is still getting into mapping (either in general or in a particular genre). B) Mapper forgot to remove notes C) Mapper put 'filler' notes. D) Instrument/layer mapped is continuous or hard to break without it sounding awkward.
Your homework, as a modder, is to identify A, B and C-type and help the mapper. For D-type, please ensure the mapping is not straining (long chains or complex patterns), if that's the case, your homework is helping the mapper to reduce the strain.
Breaks should come naturally:
1) Between song sections. 2) In the middle of a section 3) Most of songs are structured in "groups of 4", that is, a break could be squeezed in (not mandatory) to put in 4/1, 8/1, 12/1, 16/1, and so on. EX) There's nothing wrong with breaks being longer than the minimum required (e.g. 2/1, 5/2 breaks in Muzukashii, 4/1 breaks in Oni, etc.).
Also, look out for 'filler' notes: notes that are mapped to a instrument/layer totally different than the rest (hint: easy spot for a break).
Stop counting bars without breaks, stop removing the puzzle pieces.
Side note: One of the original purpose of breaks were meant to avoid monotonous mapping, to differentiate song sections.
Will you do M4M with me? It's likely I'll accept, even if I'm not open to requests. Ask me via PM or Discord. Short maps (<150s), are likely to be accepted, depends mostly on the song. Please note that I'm slooooooow.
Holy shit, you modded my map! Can I ask you for a recheck? If you left your map in my queue, if I modded, I'll recheck for sure. In other cases, you can request a recheck if I left a hype in your map while modding it or randomly without you asking (me) for one.
Can I ask for a bubble? I guess this are 1st nominations now, similar with rechecks.
Can I ask you to qualify my bubbled map? Yes, you can.
Can I ask you to make a GD for me? Yes, you can. Just message me, or spam me.
Can you help me if I have some doubts about mapping? Yes, if I am online.
Can I ask you to review my map? Yes, you can, but don't expect anything done soon.
Will senpai notice me? Perhaps, don't go yandere mode pls.
If you ever need something from me, send me a PM in Discord, I'll answer your call
