If you're reading this then uh, hello! I've been playing VSRGs for quite some time now. 2022 - 2024 for me has been pretty occupied with university, so I haven't been able to grind very much. Seeing how the 4k ranked "meta" has evolved over the last couple of years is... well.. interesting. Only ranking high star maps based on it's LN content is comical at best. I don't believe only awarding PP to 1 or 2 skillsets is a good way of making the game competetive. Going forward, I'll be playing for my own entertainment and enjoyment. Of course, feel free to DM me, or send maps. Just wanted to give my 5 cents on the current ranked situation.
Not saying 7k is perfect, however high star 7k at the very least awards PP on a lot more diverse sets of skills, unlike 4k that only awards LN and mini-jack skill. This has been a recurring issue in 4k ranked since DT PP became possible. 2017-2018 practically only awarded big PP to jumptrill heavy maps, while roughly 2019-2022 only awarded the big PP to chordjack and jacks. It should be fairly obvious that the ranked situation in 4k is incredibly unbalanced and unfair towards all other skillsets in the game. It's a real shame that a game genre such as VSRGs, which uniquely persists of many different skillsets, gets treated so terrible by osu. When issues like this persists, mapping diversity dies. When was the last time you saw a high star JS map get ranked in the last couple of years? Perhaps this lack of care for osu!mania ranked is the reason why all the old-time players desided to quit the game, or simply goes back to whatever they were playing prior to jumping on osu. It's hard to blame them, really.
I love VSRGs, I wouldn't be playing them for as long I have I didn't. However, I will say that other games such as LR2, Etterna, Quaver, O2jam etc. are a lot more appealing now, considering how one-sided the PP "meta" is.
