So lately I've noticed how it can be hard to find people to do M4M's with, even though many advertise themselves as being open for M4M's on their userpage. The problem is just finding these people who are open for M4M's since there is no real searching system for this, other than randomly clicking on userpages on beatmap threads (The Google Custom Search is flawed as it makes mostly mod ques pop up instead of player userpages when searching for M4M with it)

This leads me to my idea: The userpage itself could be improved with having boxes to tick such as "Open for M4M/NM/GD". This would ease out every mappers/modders life by a ton since you could actually search for other mappers with a search system to ask gds from or other modders to ask mods from, without having to go through the enormous trouble that it currently is. The only proper way to look for these at the moment (in addition to knowing the right people to ask) is #modreqs, but let's be real here; #modreqs isn't working properly and part of it has to do with people having to be online in order to participate in it or see others linking their maps. Implementing the box tick feature would allow for everyone to look for mods/m4ms/gds whenever they see fit!

The only real issues that I see with having this system would obviously be that
1) Some people would forget to tick/untick the options that they are not available for
2) There would be trolls ticking the boxes even though they aren't interested in it (Maybe make the option available to people with earned kudosu or submitted maps to ease this out a bit?)

Let me know if there is anything you think could be improved on this idea since I'm sure I might have missed something!

Really nice idea, you have all my support

Can be nice, but I think mapping applies to such a small part of the players (only 400k maps, yet 8m players), so it might be 'useless'
I'd like it though ^_^

User pages is a page where users can put anything there and it doesn't seem much useful for announcing their modding availabilities so I don't think this will be added.

I think it would be better if the modding queue subforum gets improved with thread filters and queue options (see below).
In this way, modding queues will be more useful imo.
  • Queue Options Example
Modding Status: -- Also locks/unlocks the thread based on choice
  1. Open
    Busy
    On Hold
    Closed
Modding Type: -- Checkboxes to allow multiple selections
  1. Normal
    Mod for Mod
  2. Guest Difficulty
Game Mode: -- Checkboxes to allow multiple selections
  1. osu!
    Taiko
  2. Catch the Beat
    osu!mania
Difficulties -- Each mode has their own difficulty range (in bold)

  • osu! » Easy • Normal • HardInsane
    Taiko » Easy • Normal • Hard • Insane
Catch the Beat » Easy • Normal • Hard • Insane
    osu!mania » Easy • Normal • Hard • Insane
Queue Managers: [_______________] Add User -- Adds/removes queue editors (useful for teams)
  1. User 1 -- Remove
  2. User 2 -- Remove
  3. User 3 -- Remove

Outcome:

  • Modding Status: Open
    Modding Type: Normal, Guest Difficulty
Game Modes: osu! (Hard - Insane), Catch the Beat (Normal)
Queue Managers: User 1, User 2, User 3

I might not gotten the actual point I wanted to make across. After implementing the box ticking (just because it is simple and fast, and wouldn't require you to open up the userpage edit interface) then we would need a new search page on which every available modder would be shown (refer to the leaderboards for the kind of page it would look like).

But I must say I like the idea of improving modding ques aswell!
