Damn, I was using cutting edge fine up until today :/ Is the "future of osu!" not going to be mac compatible then? Buying a PC in a month, but I know there are lots of players who play on mac, and moving to .net seems like it would make it worse than it is now for mac users......
Cuttingedge and the ce45 build have been merged. Which now requires the .NET Framework 4.0 (or 4.5?) and is OpenGL-only. These changes are actually to improve cross-platform compatibility in the long run. So no need to worry. Also, osu! always used the .NET framework. It doesn't run without it. So this is nothing new. It's just that you now need a higher version of it.
Anyhow, back to the original topic... Once again, I have no idea how one would do this on a Mac, but you still do need the .NET Framework 4.0 (or 4.5) installed. It's probably a wine-related thing, but I don't have enough knowledge about mac-related things to tell you how you would do that. So for now at least, you can use the Stable release stream.
