I mean the extension for the song officially shortened.
For example, if you find a shortened song in an album, there might be an extension but it's variable.

- TV Edit -
(TV Size)
- TV size -
(TV size version)
TV size ver.
~ TV animation version ~ < this one is quite special, such as arranged... whatever :p
(TV animation size)
(Anime Size Ver.)
(Short Ver.)
short size
- short ver.-
- short version -

It's really hard to see they are real part of the song title in my opinion.
Simply following the extension of the song title in the album looks messy.

(TV Size) and (Short Ver.)

Those two extensions have been most used as a song title since osu! came out.
So I suggest using them only as the extension for the song officially shortened.

If the shortened version has no "Short Ver." or is written "- Short Ver -" originally, use the original.

@those length not provided by the producers shall use the original song title, since we are not supposed to alter the song title.

Unification appears contradicting to the above rule. Altering is disallowed, if manually cut or cut by producer/composer/artist. If the cut version is written with brackets, write it with brackets, if it's written with hyphens, write it with hypens, if there is no "short ver" in the title, even if it is a cut version, don't put "short ver." at all

And yes, I really disagree with this rule. it has a problem when you have two version(full and shortened) of a song in same place.

merchat7 has good points. but peppy don't understand what he said.
for some reason, shortened song is never released through an album. (ex. Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo)
Then you may not find any source about the shortened song.
But people adds the extension "(TV Size)" when they map shortened song. Why?
Because I think an extension is not a part of the song title. It's just a length indicater which is very useful.

I think if a song appear in an anime that should be called TV Size no matter if its in the title or not because sometimes that version is never on the ost discs. There is bunch example out there for songs which has never had an official tv size but yet they appear in the tv (Inuyasha for example). So we should unify the title for 1,5 min long song which appear as an opening/ending.


Short version is only appear in vns and they are mostly on the soundtrack disk too so I don't think we really need to speak about this.

I think the way the criteria is setup is the way it should be. In addition I feel as if there are some maps out there using the wrong extension when they should not be, so maybe a unification might come in handy to avoid confusion

Maybe:
(TV Size) = anime OP/ED
(Short Ver.) = Visual Novels OP/ED

I kinda agree with this since its kinda confuse when the song have the same tittle as the 1:30 and the full song. I'm like 50/50

tv size is ALWAYS in the OST. The creation of TV size was due to shortened versions of songs being otherwise released (as a single). please continue to use the correct metadata provided by official sources.
