This doesn't bother me personally, but it happens to be a little bug I found accidentally.
You should know that when watching a replay, clicking "Show Discussion" and clicking the text box will pause the replay for you to type, right? But it just so happens that if you're watching a replay and "pause" the replay using this method
at a certain time after an approach circle closes around a hit circle, the replay will register the note as a "Miss" or sometimes a "100" when it was supposed to be a 300.
Many players may not notice it, but there seem to be many things happening when a note is tapped during a replay. Based on what I have observed, hitting a note during a replay will trigger the following process:
SPOILER• Approach circle is closing in
• The approach circle is fully closed, and the player taps the note perfectly
• The approach ring disappears, but the hit circle is still visible for a tiny period
• There is an almost unnoticeable delay. The points are being registered right now.
• The points are registered
• The whole hit circle disappears.
• A 300 is displayed
When this bug occurs, pausing the replay will interrupt the point registration and you won't get the full points you earned.
SPOILER• Approach circle is closing in
• The approach circle is fully closed, and the note is tapped perfectly
• The approach ring disappears, but the hit circle is still visible for milliseconds
• There is a delay before the whole note disappears. The points are being registered.
• You pause the replay, thus interrupting the point registration.
• You resume the replay
• The points are not registered correctly
• The hit circle disappears.
• A Miss or 100 is displayed
How to reproduce:
1) Go to any replay (preferably one with an SS grade so you can easily catch the bug)
2) At any point of the replay where an approach circle
is about to close onto a note or at the moment it does, pause the replay using the "Discussion" box method. This may be hard to pull off, but keep trying.
Remember that the hit circle should be closed, but the points should be registering.3) If done correctly, the hit circle should still be visible, but the approach circle should be gone.
4) Click anywhere outside the text box to "resume" the replay, and you'll find that the hit circle was not hit or hit off-time.
5) This can be done as many times as you wish throughout the map. This seems to work best with normal notes; sliders don't bug as much but it may happen.
Screenshots of the
same replay are shown below:
SPOILERBelow, the note that my cursor is on was just hit, and the points are not yet fully registered. The replay is currently paused. Notice how the hit circle is still there but the approach ring is gone.
The next screenshot is of the same note right after I resumed. You can see I "missed" the note.
This is the ranking screen of the replay. I appear to have an SS grade, despite "missing" several notes throughout the replay.
