TBH I think the locking has gotten out of hand. Sure not every thread is hilarious that people post, but I think that anything that is at least trying to be funny shouldn't be locked. I mean imo the reason you would lock a thread is for the following reasons:
1. Offensive to certain groups of people, individuals, or people in general
2. Thread has caused unnecessary drama
3. Thread is just meant to be spam (I mean really stupid threads that have no content and someone just makes 100 new threads with like a period or something)
4. Thread is discussing specific topics against the Osu Community forum conduct rules
It "not being funny" or you just don't like it is not really a good reason.
If it's not one of these categories I seriously don't see the need for locking. TBH Flanster I think the more threads that are locked the more crappy threads will be made. People are often just seeking attention. Locking the thread just makes people go "why was this locked" and become curious. It's negative attention to be sure but many people seek out any attention even if it's negative.

These proposed requirements to a lock remind me of G&R. Not even when thread are meme'd into oblivion ("play more") do the threads get locked. Not even when the same thread gets made over and over again ("how do I improve x", "how do I get better") do the threads get locked.
