No, not really. A map difficulty solely dependent on notes density and the pattern itself. However, doesn't mean adding long notes
Confirmed it as normal difficulty. In fact, the long notes I asked you to change does has meaning and emphasized the rhythm itself. So why not reduce the notes density instead if you want it more easier? There are many kinds of songs and there's some which doesn't need long note at all, however this song definitely needs several long notes.

BUT, I do understand what you meant by long notes make it looks difficult (even though technically it doesn't). Well it's your choice in the end to choose, also no, I am not saying that adding long note is a must, if it seems comfortable to use lots of single notes instead of long note, then so be it.
There's nothing wrong with it

In conclusion, long notes doesn't affect beat-maps difficulty in any ways, long note is long note, but it's still a single note with long length. But it's not that necessary so stick to single notes if you feel it more comfortable
