I don't see why it is necessary to base the submission of a map by what it is named. If I have multiple difficulties, then I have to include marathon in the title of all of them to get it to submit correctly.

It only makes sense. Marathons that don't exceed the size limit can be named anything. My song has a full spread and the video makes it required to have Marathon in the title of all the difficulties. I would much rather have marathon in tags. We are not forced to have collab in the difficulty name and we should not have to have Marathon be in the title either, especially since the rule only applies to certain marathon songs and "Marathon" doesn't tell the player anything about how difficult the map is.
It is possible for Marathon difficulties to have only 1 difficulty, but it must be named Marathon for the BSS to allow the submission to pending.
It has nothing to do with the size of the beatmap. I agree though that it shouldn't matter how many difficulties there are. It will only confuse people if their correctly size map for a marathon is not allowed to be submitted to pending because it isn't named correctly. I don't think the BSS gives a helpful message to correct this. It will give the "You must have at least 2 difficulties to submit to pending".
