hai :O just wondering around and found this map by someone XD

quick check ;; BPM should be all 185. there is no BPM change. and the offset should be at 2,408 (-5) ;; on this part 00:14:083 - you shouldn't follow the vocal because the vocal sing with unstable rhythm XD ;; if you try 3/2 slider ;; you'll find yourself following the piano on the background nicely.

idk if "(TV-SIZE)" should be like that ;; the correct one probably "(TV Size)" because everyone is using that .w.

and add the GD-ers to the tags on every difficulties

thats my real quick check ;; I don't know whether you need to kds this or not but well? I guess don't kds ;;

I understand what you mean about not going with the voice but its what i want to do, as for the bpm, im getting mixed messages for that, ill think about it though i am thinking you are probably right. thanks for the mod

Sorry for late mod~

[Drago Crisis!]

  • Slider velocity feels a bit fast. It probably has something to do with the frequent gaps in the map where the vocal stops, like between these two notes 00:52:835 (1,2) - or 01:03:213 (1,2) - . Not sure what you can do about this, maybe you can find someone who can look over the flow of your map for you.
  1. 00:03:862 (7) - I feel that this slider's curve is too sharp, especially when you compare it to 00:02:403 (1,3) -
    I believe it will look better if you make the curve less sharp, something like this works and it doesn't disrupt the flow:
  2. 00:13:430 (1) - according to ranking criteria, manipulating slider points to change the velocity of a slider is not allowed anymore, and I am pretty sure this applies to this slider. You can keep it for now and verify if you're allowed to do this or not, but otherwise you can make a straight/somewhat straight slider and lower slider velocity with a timing point here.
  3. 00:24:457 - the hitsound volume starting from this timing point is a bit loud, I think it would still sound good if you lowered the volume by ~20%
  4. 00:34:186 (2,3,4,5) - this pattern can be made more interesting, consider adding a note at 00:34:430 -
  5. 00:33:862 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10) - when it comes to map design/object placement, I find that it looks better when you avoid arranging multiple objects along a path/line. For example, here you can literally draw a curved line from the start to the end. I feel that it's better to map in segments rather in a line as mapping in a line gives the map a one-dimensional or 'flat' feeling to it.

    Below is one example of how I remapped the part I highlighted above. I've lowered the AR so you can see the placement of the notes.
    Not the best example since I just whipped something up quickly, but I think you get the idea. Try to experiment with different slider shapes as well, and generally avoid placing a bunch of objects in a line.
  6. 00:43:916 (5) - , 00:44:889 (1) - If you want some nice anti-jumps/whatever they call it, you can ctrl+g each of these. The flow is still good afterwards and this makes the map more fun in my opinion
  7. 00:53:970 - it feels like there should be a note here to match the vocal, otherwise it sounds a little empty
  8. 01:09:051 (2) - consider ctrl+g to make it more interesting/fun
  9. 01:09:375 (3) - to match the vocal you should make this a slider and extend it to 01:09:538 - . If you apply this change and the one above, here is one fun way that you can arrange the objects:
Anyways you need to work a bit on object placement (making the map look nice). Have fun mappnig~

For Smug's Hard, why don't we make the stacks at 00:07:105 (1,2,3) - , 00:11:484 (1,2,3,4) - , 00:17:484 (2,3,4) - , 00:22:673 (2,3,4) - 01:22:348 (3,4,5) - , 01:23:643 (4,5,6) - , and 01:26:725 (1,2,3,4) - a bit more interesting or something. I was thinking like shape them into small triangles, squares, or something instead of keeping them as plain stacks.

Just a thought, I'm new to modding and stuffs.

Can you add the soft hits from the Dragon Crisis! difficulty (the ones around 00:14:078 (1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11) ) to the Hard mode? I like how they sound as opposed to the default sounds.

- Really liked the song and the maps overall, I'm still not good enough to give a good opinion on more than Hard diff so I'm not gonna do it.
- Kiai Time is different in all diffs and non existent in Normal

[Normal]

- The slider at 00:27:538 (8) - seems a bit off timing, aswell as the one at 00:30:132 (2) - then most notes up until 00:33:538 (7) - follow that mistake I think.
- At 00:38:727 (1) - I'm assuming it's on purpose but why so many colors/combos? :lol:
- 00:53:808 (7) - this note is hard to notice at times, since is normal diff, not a big problem though

- Some combos end on top of others which is kinda strange for me (it's more of a personal taste thing), for example 00:15:051 (2) - and 00:16:348 (4) -
- The stacks at 00:17:484 (2) - , 00:22:673 (2) - , 01:22:346 (3) - and 01:23:643 (4) - could be on different positions, on the side for example. Because their from different sounds from what comes next (trying to explain this the best I can ._.)



This is my first mod so I don't expect everything to be good advice, just what I think of the map based on the rules I read. Got to start somewhere :) Good luck!

Hey man dont worry we all start somewhere, thanks for the mod, i forgot about kiai time in the normal, ill look into the rest of what you suggested. Even if its a personal taste its always nice to hear another opinion.

I'm going to post an intensive mod for the normal diff if you don't mind to start off with hopefully you get a better idea of how I would go about making a normal manageable for a newbie player. I felt this diff needs the most work as you said.

[General]

Add 'Kiyoshi Ryujin' and 'Takahashi Gou' to the tags on all diffs (Composer/Arrangers).


[Normal]

I recommend slider velocity 0.8-0.9 for a Normal diff. It will be more manageable for beginners since you have to take the high BPM in mind too, and this way you can avoid having the 1/4 sliders looking too short and stubby which comes with the circle size.

I suggest adjust the distance spacing by holding alt and dragging the peg to 1.5 where the beat snap divisor would be. I also suggest you use distance snap throughout the song perhaps.

Make sure that the spacing between all notes are even and that there are no large jumps if you do decide to make a 1/4 jump which I would personally recommend you don't in a normal.

Avoid any note overlaps as it can confuse the newer player into thinking they have to hit the overlapped note instead causing a frustrating miss.

00:03:700 (4) - I suggest a new combo for the start of the next big beat.

00:04:024 (5) - I recommend angling this slider towards the next note for enhanced flow and for continuous spacing (http://puu.sh/8jzrT.jpg).

00:04:997 (3,4,5) - I feel that you should make it so that slider 3 and 4 are equidistant from the body of slider 5 so that the pattern looks symmetrical and the spacing is consistant (http://puu.sh/8jAFF.jpg).

00:06:294 (5) - To fit the rhythm you were going for with this slider to match the syncopated beat, enable 1/4 beat snap divisor and then re-adjust the slider length so that it ends on the red tick (http://puu.sh/8jKqk.jpg).

00:09:213 (4,1,2) - I felt that this was too large of a jump for a normal, perhaps use the distance snap in conjunction with distance spacing 1.5?

00:10:186 (1,2) - When blanketing two sliders, it is important to take into account the symmetry of the blanket, making sure the curve of the sliders are equal and symmetrical and that the curve fits with the approach circle of the head of the slider. Another point to note is that the head and tail of each slider are directly in line with the center point of the curve of the sliders, you will see a perfect triangle form between the head of the first slider and the head and tail of the second slider and likewise. 00:14:078 (1) - Perhaps make the decrease in hitsound volume a little more subtle, perhaps make it slowly decrease from a few notes before so the player has a chance to deal with how to time his hits with lowered hitsounds.

Remember about the spacing throughout the song, no drastic jumps in normals. My rule for easy and normals is that if the jump has your cursor greatly exceed the slider velocity in order to succeed it, then reduce the jump size.

00:17:970 (1,2) - Same rule of blanketing applies to this (http://puu.sh/8jLXT.jpg).

00:23:646 (2,4,5) - Perhaps space these notes apart a little more to avoid this overlap.

00:24:943 (4,5,6) - Notice that you've mapped this part with the timing between 5 and 6 greater than 4 and 5 but the spacing remains the same? This will confuse the newer player into hitting 6 too early. Perhaps space out 6 from 5 a little more to avoid the anti-jump.

Another rule of mine to consider is to make the spacing between your slider blankets equal the spacing between notes in your map in general.

00:28:835 (10,1) - I recommend neatening this blanket for beauty and to coincide with the way you have created the other blankets in the map to uphold continuity (http://puu.sh/8jMnl.jpg).

I highly recommend fixing all your blankets so that they are all equal in spacing and curve to each other for symmetry and continuity.

00:40:997 (2,3,4,5,6,7,8) - Quite a bit of cluster going on here, perhaps re-organize the pattern so it flows a little better within itself.

00:46:511 (4) - Extend this slider by one tick on 1/4 beat snap divisor so that it ends on the white tick to match the timing.

00:51:700 - KIAI HERE FOR IMPACT!

00:53:808 (7) - I suggest making this circle a slider that ends on the white tick just like the sliders before it to match the vocals, the sudden abruptness of the circle seems to leave out the last part of this particular vocal.

00:56:078 (5,1,2) - This overlap that goes back on itself can seriously confuse the player, especially when the overlap is very close to the note you are supposed to hit, perhaps realign it so that you avoid the overlap such as this (http://puu.sh/8jMMK.jpg).

01:13:267 (1) - With sliders such as these where they are more constricted by kinks, try to at least expose the head side of the body so that the newer player can judge the timing of the slider by its rough distance like so (http://puu.sh/8jN9m.jpg).


Using the ideas I've presented in this mod post, try and look for ways you can improve the diff whilst still keeping your style of mapping in mind because that is important, it IS your map after all. Also, its always important when mapping a normal to keep the demographic of players who actually PLAY the normal in mind, look through a normal players eyes and consider yourself what would be manageable or not.
