Problem details:
Hi, I'm at a special facility where the computers we use are strictly not allowed to be connected to the Internet, and I want to install Osu on one of them.

I first tried running latest Osu!installer.exe that I had saved to my USB from the official website, but it gave me Error: Unsigned Executable.

On my second attempt, I downloaded a pre-installed Osu zip file from some time ago, and simply unzipped it, placed it under AppData Local, and ran it. The osu installer was checking for updates but since there is no Internet connection it failed and I couldn't play the game as well.

On my third attempt, I installed Osu onto a USB, checked that it works on my PC at home (which has Internet connection), ran it at my workplace, and found out it still doesn't work (Error: Unsigned Executable).

The PC runs on Windows 7 and has .Net Framework 4.8 and a lot of other necessary programs for running other games.

I also installed some security updates that were mentioned on other forums, but that didn't help as well.

I have tried other solutions from following forum posts:
https://osu.ppy.sh/community/forums/topics/701162

I have yet to try installing latest patches of Windows 7 to this PC because I'm not sure if I'm allowed to (the PC previously had 0 updates since fresh installation from CD). If this seems to be the issue, please let me know and I'll try to get the updates done.

I have also not tried getting older installer files because I don't really see how that can solve the issue here (since my second attempt is kinda similar).

If the above two points are not the main issue, does anyone know how to go around this problem?

Thanks in advance.

osu! version: Stable 20191211.2 (latest)
Death
I'm pretty sure the only way to fix that "Unsigned Executable" error is to install a specific Windows update.

The old installer (direct download link) that used to be listed on the download page would most likely work in your case actually, it installs an older version of the game that doesn't seem to have that issue. It is missing a few features though (some online features are also missing, but that doesn't matter if you don't have an internet connection anyway).

That old installer worked like a charm. Thank you very much!

It seems like that version had most required files on itself so no further download was required except the localization file.

The only thing I would like to add for anyone who might bump into this thread in future is that the old installer above will try to download localization file after it's done installing.
If you have Osu installed on another computer, copying the file inside Localization folder within your Osu install directory and placing it in the Localization folder in the new install directory created by the old installer (that sounds a bit confusing, I know) will complete the Internet-less install process.
Enjoy!
