Event-oriented CtB Catchers

Wouldn't it be cool if the CtB catchers changed depending on how you are doing on the map? For example, you could have one default CtB catcher, one for when you are doing a spinner, one when you miss a note, one when you are nearly failing, and perhaps a few other scenarios I can't think of at this exact moment. This is kinda already implemented in Taiko with the pippi-don and other skinned don characters so why not allow it in CtB as well? :D

Doesn't seem like something big, but it would add some flavor to the mode. +1 (if I had any votes left :()

that could be very distracting for some places though. i mean i taiko its not as bad since the notes aren't really flying at pippi's face. plus then you'd have to take into account that then this would be requested as a skinable feature. so that'll add another x number of skin elements.
sure it could just be added as a either
A - a toggled feature
B - something in the skin.ini

but with things like ninja spinners. or spinner fruit spinner fruit spinner fruit, the catcher would change often and it could cause a miss, and then it would change into something else.
it could be interesting adding event triggers events, but not to the ctb catcher imo

ahhhh....I haven't that about that. However, if people are comfortable with it, it can still be left as an option. Also, a good skinner would make sure the change was noticeable but still subtle so it wouldn't disrupt gameplay, like just slightly changing the expression on the catcher's face, instead of putting a whole new sprite that looks totally different from the default catcher sprite.

Other than the spinner thing, (which is unnecessary) I think everything else sounds cool and could be skinnable :)

I disagree with this because first, it would be very awkward to be playing and have your catcher suddenly change, especially since some elements are very rapid. Some people tend to spam spinners in maps, and if you have a catcher oriented for that, it could be very spastic and awkward. Second of all, it would mean that everyone would have to make so many more skinned elements which not only require coming up with something special (and not retarded) for these event-oriented catches, but it also takes much more time to create said skin elements. And thirdly, I think it's just silly.

So no support.

If and only if this gets implemented, then with a toggle. The idea itself is good and has its points but for almost every competitive CTB player (I think) this would be so confusing and irritating that they want everyone to hell. Sorry, but when you're playing, then it's just pretty confsuing, don't you think so? The catcher isn't something small which can be changed that easily (and if it's jsut the face for instance). It's just as if you'd say that in Standard the cursor would change O.o (color or so, don't ask me).

no. this is more or less a skin based feature request. i see no reason why any skin elements should need a toggle

This. For me (who used to play with the original one), when a beatmap got its own ryuuta, very hard to play. I don't want to hear about "changing" ryuuta.

That would be really cool. Like the don character in taiko mode.

It's all personal preference. Some people might like this, some people won't.
I don't like combobursts, 300s, followpoints and some other stuff I can't think of right now so I made them transparent. This doesn't mean it shouldn't have existed since some other players might like those elements, or even find them being useful.

fair enough. however i still think that changing the catcher too often will cause a lot of confusion and a massive source of distraction.

I agree with that. I personally think that only changing it for Kiai Time and Spinners would be acceptable, the rest would be a bit of overkill on the amount of event changes.. and I can imagine that it would probably be pretty annoying.

kiai only imo. spinners would be too annoying. even more so when you have spinner small gap then spinner again

The skinning it out approach isnt the most appropiate, remember that if it's accepted, even new players will have to deal with it, and they are the ones that dont know anything about skinning nor which elements to replace to remove it, if it's going to cause distractions, it's better off not implemented imo.

Perhaps just Kiai Time would be sufficient, so that it wouldn't be too chaotic with constant switching. For the default osu skin, the Kiai Time ryuuta could have just a slight outer glow to differentiate it from the regular one and then skinners can be a bit more adventurous if they want to be. :)
