Five years ago to the second, the first public release of osu! went live. Together we have grown from infancy to a community of 300,000+ active players. I was hoping to release a copy of the first release of osu! on this date to celebrate, but haven't been able to align the planets (aka get the correct DLL versions) to make it run, so that may have to wait a bit! Instead, here is some photoshopped cake and big numbers showing exactly how far we have come:
108,941,740,041 Circles tapped (4,980,800,525 missed!)
14,754,541,504 Fruits caught (546,962,342 missed!)
11,837,033,645 Dons smashed (1,285,046,875 missed)
992,469,094 Plays since 2007
1,800,000 Plays per day
1,746,600 Forum posts
1,114,734 Beatmap downloads a month
846,099 Achievement gets
70,507 Kills and bans
48,662 Beatmaps Uploaded (of which 39,164 have since been graveyarded)
7,077 Concurrent Users Online
6,770 Beatmaps Ranked
2,000 New accounts per day
186 Countries
1 Game
Thanks to everyone who has helped osu! come this far, including the devs that have contributed their code and knowledge; the admins/moderators that keep things under control; the beatmap appreciation team (and MAT counterpart) that try their hardest to keep quality high; and last but not least, every single player out there. After all, the only reason osu! has come this far is because there are people wishing to play it. I hope to keep osu! running and improving as long as that doesn't change .
All users should have access to osu!direct for the next 24 hours to celebrate. (now finished!)
peppy out.
