I know this is pretty new, but here's a small feature concerning the menu background which could be interesting :

Having 2 menu-backgrounds, one being used when the menu is in idle state and the other one used when The menu is clicked/activated.

That could allow menu backgrounds in skin that would interract better with the osu!logo and the selectable items too.

This is not "Necessary". Tons of stuff are not necessary in the game, but it can be something cool.

I've read about something similar b4, but instead of going into an idle bg, it would show a random top 40 player's gameplay on the song you are listening to atm. They also requested the option to turn this feature on/off.

I think it's a nice idea, but I would prefer to have an animated bg more.
