Can we get that ctrl+r automatically restarts the map instead of having to wait for an annoying entire second with the buttons held in order to restart it? It would be far more useful, imo

Actually I never understood the purpose of the waiting, never saw a keyboard shortcut for a command in any other game in which one had to wait :3

The "waiting" is logically made to not be pressed by accident causing unwanted restarts.
Making it trigger on hold prevents this.

The whole idea of thinking on preventing users from pressing wrong buttons in order not to force a restart is good and all but...

In a game where all the controls are located on the third line of the keyboard... How would someone press both 'r' and 'ctrl' by mistake simultaneously?

Currently ctrl+r act the same as the retry hotkey (default ` I think...), which means he have the same waiting time. Ctrl+r shouldn't be accidental, requiring two fingers and half a keyboard distance apart, so imo it shouldn't have this waiting time and make me waste my time pressing it 3-4 times because I never hold it long enough

I don't see a reason to change this. You would be surprised at how many people accidentally hit that key combination.

Just hit escape and click retry quickly. Takes half a second.

The problem with esc+retry is that it doesn't skip song intros by default while ctrl+r does.

The whole point of the shortcut is being a fast retry feature, and as xenal said the fact there is a waiting time conditions the user to hold the buttons for a bit and then release it, and thus making it easier to hold the buttons for a shorter period of time than intended, which causes the player to frustratingly keep trying to retry and not suceeding which is super annoying

Also as pointed out Ctrl and R are too far apart to be pressed by mistake. It would take a very awkward instance to press those by mistake
