I hit save after I decided to pause my mapping for a bit. I get into solo, and press the update button thing for unranked maps. Then realized that a good 2 minutes of the song just dissapeared. What the hell?!

Updating a map downloads the version which is submitted on website. This replace all progress you have.

You need to go to the same place that you did when you originally submitted the map. "File > Upload Beatmap..." at the top left of the editor or Ctrl+Shift+U.
