Is it just me or do both those OPs have a lot in common o.O.

@valerian: What graphics and sound card are you using?

I have the same problem although it's not with every song, or they just happen to be songs where you have to click the with ball, I'll test it later and edit.
I have a AMD X2 4200+
3 gigs of DDR RAM and an overclocked 8800 GTS 320 mb.
Edit: Nope 'Uptown girl isn't a problem however Scatman is, when I have to 'drag' the ball my computer seizes violently and restarts, or in the worst case just freezes, and I have to reset manually.

I'm looking into this one. Any further information anyone can provide on exactly when this happens, and what hardware you were using when it occurred would be great.

When do you ever have to "click the white dot"? You aren't supposed to click those. :?

One of my... native english speaking friends is also getting this problem. It happens when the first tick plays its sound on a slider. I'm still trying to get more info on the exact cause, but this will clear things up a bit.

Since the slider displays OK, I am thinking it must be something to do with the audio playback... pretty random though. I really don't see why the PC would totally crash o.O.

Yes, they do. They both can't speak English that well, which means they're probably using a computer that doesn't have alot of English characters.

With that, I thought of an outrageous solution...

Could it be the filename of the sound file or some character in the "white dot"s code that can't be displayed/used on said person's computer?

It's pretty outrageous, like I said, but could something like that be the problem?

I guess outrageous errors call for such solutions, but I don't think this is the one we are looking for. It *does* seem to suggest that the problem has something to do with the sound being played (possibly too many samples at once or something?) as it occurs exactly on a slider tick.

Unfortunately I still cannot reproduce this problem.. so unless one of the people that actually gets it contacts me on irc/msn, I can't see how this will be fixed. :(

I'm bumping this just to let you guys know I am still looking into this problem. Thanks to Keegan, we have narrowed it down to a sound sample issue. I will recreate the slider tick sample and check all the related code in the next day.

Edit: this has been fixed. Up in next public (this weekend, I promise!)
