Think about the current chat system in osu!. You are in a song in multiplayer, and you are typing in chat to the other players, and the song exits from the break, causing you to miss hitcircles until you close the chat window and hit the circles. It can be frustrating for players who chat to others during the breaks of songs, and do not expect the song to return that soon from the break, or if they are in the middle of typing.
That is why I suggest adding a voice chat feature. It would simplify chatting with others and would not require opening and closing the chat window, therefore not missing a hitcircle, and it can either be auto-transmit or push-to-talk.
Messing up text chat messages? Nonexistant in voice chat.
Of course, as to not interrupt the song, it can be disabled automatically during sections that are not breaks, and only be enabled in game rooms and between two players in private chat, to ease micspamming. And if needed, someone can notify a mod about a bothersome micspammer in a game room if needed.
