How do I properly tune my offset?

Hello! I have due to lack of general knowledge decided to bother you all!

I've noticed that I lack the ability to use rhythm and beats to guide/assist me on beatmaps. On multiple maps I've noticed the song seems somewhat off in context to the map. I've attempted the offset wizard in the settings and the beatmap which is identically named, and I find myself clueless as of how it works. Due to my stupidity I can't grasp how I properly tune my offset and I would highly appreciate any help I could.

Once again, sorry for bothering!

open that map with editor, press F5, play though and check the ???ms early/late info at the left of your game window.

try several times and you'll find a proper number.

and let's go back to playing, in the game, you can use + and - to justify the offset for that map.

Thank you very much!

don't do this - offset should never be tuned by playing performance in the editor (too many extraneous variables that can influence the result) and should be instead timed by ear.

try the offset wizard!

time it as close as you can, you should be able to get within 3ms of the perfect offset for you~ (even OD10 has a ~40ms window for getting 300, so you won't notice more perfect than that)

also, if you are using windows 7, offset only updates in 10ms intervals, so tiny changes below a 10ms margin will not affect how you physically interact with the offset whatsoever
