Here's an example of a map I'd like to dim the background for.
I go to the menu and set 90% background dim, then restart the map. I get this:
I restart the map again, select 90% background dim, and continue the map from there. I get this:
My request is to keep the background at the brightness of your choice until you exit the map, as dimming the background and playing the map without restarting can be an annoyance on maps with short lead-in times.
In a similar vein, the white flashes during gameplay can be more distracting when playing with a dimmed background, so scaling down the brightness of those flashes to match the background would be optimal.
