Why are so much taiko players japanese?

I took a look in all ratings for all gamemodes, and found out that there are more people in the Japanese taiko ranking then there are for all other rankings. Why is that?

P.S.: I am not saying this is bad, I am just interested why that is.

The original game, Taiko no Tatsujin, started in Japan, so yeah.

To be more specific, it helps that there’s way more accessibility for taiko through arcade machines in Japanese arcades, and other taiko simulators floating on the web typically in Japanese.
