I play osu! fullscreen in pen mode, but wanted to know a good area to move large leaps without moving the hand of the place but that doesn't impede small jumps

It's simple:
Trial and error.
Just keep fiddling around with it until you get what feels adamantly comfortable for you without tiring over use and stick to it from then on as changing it later down the track is one of the worst decisions you'll make as it does take quite a while to adapt.
