Yes, I used a xp pen g430 and now are using ctl 471. Xp pen is a great budget tablet, with its only downfall being a not so good quality, but since it's a low budget tablet, it's understandable. XP pen 430 and 640 is a great tablet for hovering. If you are dragging, get a tablet cover.
The ctl 471 I use, have better quality than xp pen because it's more expensive. But since it's not a good budget tablet like xp pen, only get it as an upgrade when you have the extra money.
Both tablet's lag is almost none and/or unfeelable
Since you are buying a G640, it's the best to buy it in newest condition.
Extra: I think the reason why your 480 is not working is because you got a used one, if you are going to buy wacom, best to find one that is in new condition.
