Hello!

Today (2018-08-19), the third public meeting of the Quality Assurance Team was held in the osu!dev public Discord server. For those who were unable or unaware of the meeting, or those who would like a quickfire recap, a summary of the discussion and resulting tasks/outcomes for the team can be found below.

Changes to hybrid mode mapsets

Relevant background: Proposal
  1. Universal favour to retain hybrids and incentivise players to try other game modes
  2. No currently implemented way to *require* per-mode Nominators
  3. Can implement makeshift solution using Notes for each gamemode
  4. Ideal solution implements per-mode Nomination bars where BNs can nominate for which mode(s) they are proficient in - disqualifications should also ideally reset nominations on a per-mode basis
  5. Examples: https://i.imgur.com/50IMVxe.png or one bar per http://puu.sh/BgPIA/d9fe83e3d3.jpg
  6. Run forum poll to determine interest / preference (coming soon)

Metadata Handling and Checking

Relevant background:
  1. How is metadata being handled since the dismissal of responsible QATs?
  2. Do BNs show growing proficiency in metadata and do sets get ranked with faulty metadata?
  3. Come up with a system to set genre/language

Discussion:
  1. Still a certain amount of dependence on previous metadata help groups, but proficiency is also improving as BNs become more self-sufficient
  2. Noted some improvements in BN metadata proficiency, though these can be continued further
  3. Fewer DQs for metadata then before, though new rules regarding TVSize and Circles metadata is confusing and causes issues
  4. Investigate if Genre/Language can be unlocked from the beatmap management panel in new web for BNs to use when nominating
  5. Beatmapset event (similar to resolving an issue or posting a nomination) for setting Genre/Language
  6. Related: Show genre and language in new web beatmap preview - https://github.com/ppy/osu-web/issues/2751
  7. Allow BN+GMT users to set Genre / Language

Further discussion may be announced as it develops - if you have points you would like to raise regarding this discussion, feel free to contact any member of the Quality Assurance Team.
