So I noticed that as far as ranking is concerned, you have only one minor incentive to score well on a difficult song that doesn't have a lot of hit-objects in it, which is having your name high on the list for that difficulty rank of that song.
So here's a new ranking idea:
Basically, it averages your rank, arranged by difficulty. So if you have first place on every single two star beatmap on the database, for instance, you would then have first place on the two-star leaderboard. If your average rank is in 10th place on most five star maps, then that would be your place on the leaderboard. If there is a tie, then it would measure the player's performance on the individual songs of that difficulty rank to determine who has a higher rank. Pretty simple idea, and gives players something to strive for if they much rather enjoy getting that SS rank on medium and easy songs, as opposed to simply surviving the more difficult ones.
