Self-explanatory.

Judge what you think of the music genre above you, and describe what you appreciate about it and what you find disappointing about it, then name a particular genre you generally enjoy when you're done.

(Optional): Feel free to list an example of the genre if you'd like. Though, if you choose to, the maximum limit is at 4 songs.

Go ahead.

Breakcore is pretty good, now that I've listened to a more broad range of music. I like the fast tempo that comes with some of the breakcore songs I've heard, but I don't really like how it runs over some audio pieces repeatedly after we've heard it in the past second.

Hmm. I'd say it's alright, but can be repetitive at times and typically has sharp yet minimalistic percussion that sometimes feels empty. Once it gets to whatever drops or choruses it may have, it provides a few predictable but acceptable additions to the melody or something. Overall, it's decent.

It seems fine to me, but I think it can become too much or cluttered if it lacks breaks. Sometimes the melodic parts of the songs are also quite forgettable.

For what it's worth, I think Shoegaze is a pretty good genre when done right. More often than not, it's satisfying and I actually enjoy the sort of dreamy atmosphere the songs within this genre give off. It has a sort of aged but well-nurtured, soft and earthy feel to it.

Not much on the negative side, but if there's anything I could say about it, it'd just be that the genre may not stand out all that much. Thing is, I dont think it matters much as something to criticize about it. Certain genres work with certain aesthetics.

I honestly dont have much to say aside from it being a pretty nice and decent genre.

Oh yeah! Forgot to mention-- you can send multiple songs if you'd like, especially if you want to clarify the main appeal and basic traits of what makes a song indicative of the genre it's associated with. Though, It's limited up to four songs.

Seems to have some really pretty songs with awesome substance and finesse. I love how layered they are, intricate sounds and just a joy to listen to. However I do think they all lack some impact, they're beautiful in their instrumentation and execution but it's all artificial and technical, which is intentional, just not my thing. Makes up for a lot with it's ingenuity, theres never a boring moment in any of these songs, but it feels all very restrained and cold.

...Yep. Personally, eve since you've sent the good stuff over in the "Rate the music of the above user's post!" thread, I'd say the majority I've really enjoyed.

The first one, though erratic and seemingly non-sensical at times, it has a sort of drive and impact about just as satisfying as the gritty buzz of 300+ BPM Splittercore and Extratone kicks, and it shows how wacky the genre can be at times. I'm alright with that.

The second one has a nicer, neat and passive side to it, but the gritty stuff is still there, it's just that the instruments bleed into each other and that leaves a nice and rough atmosphere. It's like some sort of Downtempo Sludge or something.

The third and fourth songs are just fun to listen to, overall. They both have their own style to them but all of these retain the satisfying aspects about Sludge Metal, most notably, its grit and drive.

Generally, I think the genre to have more integrity in what it does, despite it's usually chaotic soundscapes, as it has some real creativity in the genre, as many genres do. I've personally enjoyed the creative interpretations of the genre by all these different bands and producers, so I'd say I'm pretty content with it.

Good genre, great examples. More involved than ambient and achieves similar tone. Can be conflicting to me, sometimes I like emptiness of the ambient stuff you've sent, this seems to add a layer or two more which isn't always needed imo, simplicity can be more rewarding. I guess the songs can also be a little too formulaic.

Second song is super nice btw.

Not really that heavily into modern rap/hip-hop. I know the lyrics are supposed to be the focal point of the song, but they tend to get rather repetitive, especially the baselines, with not too much distinguishing the different songs or artists. Most of the time, I can't even tell who I'm listening to.

I'm a bit surprised I hadn't replied to this.

Fusion jazz sounds pretty damn cool.

The first example has a nice energy to it and progresses quite well. It uses a lot of different elements in it from classical instruments like violins, which is what I'd assume alludes to the "fusion" in fusion jazz. It had a nice break starting at around 2:28, which bridged to and culminated into this interesting electronic section being supported by some sick horns and guitars. Ah, that part when everything excluding horns dropped out to fit in vocals at the end? That was rather surprising and pleasantly welcomed.

The second example sounds pretty great. A nice 3/4 time signature too! Not much to say other than compliment the amazing piano playing and the really damn good drums. There seems to be some bass guitar playing in the background that I can't pick up as well considering my headphones have broken, but it's pretty good playing as well. Luckily there's some sections where it shines. Lovely progressions and chords throughout the entire song.

The third example. Pretty good stuff in it as well, though it's a bit closer to what I'd imagine my dad enjoying. Walking bass lines, and stuff like that. Later on though, there's some crazy rhythm that I'm loving with these drum sections, further emphasized with some sort of electronic keyboard, followed by a bass of sorts. Nice ending.

Overall, I think I could easily say I enjoy fusion jazz given the stuff you've sent.

I've listened all three songs... this is a bit hard to criticize because my english skills are not so good, but i'll give it my best.

My first impression is the lack of melody, i always try to follow the 'riff' of the songs when i hear them, but this genre doesn't really has a strong melody-focus, but instead of that, it gives you a lot of new sounds and 'gestures?', that doesn't overlaps one another, doesn't 'overload' the song itself and makes the listener really expectant of what sounds the song is gonna gives you next.

I love it how it sets an ambience, just like the genre name says. While listening to it, eventually you'll get lost at your own thoughts, and slowly this tune really grabs you by the hand and drags you off earth. Im not heavily into that space and universe stuff, but this genre made me dream of the universe and how nice it would be if i could travel across it.

I'll not talk about the "technical music terms" of this song a lot, i don't see complex rhytms and incredible musical gestures, but they are not necessary, the genre itself is good enough and doesn't has the need to incorporate them, but instead, the simple rhytms makes you really easy to grown attached to the song. Also, the bass sounds are fucking incredible, they make love to my ears, especially in tracks #1 and #3.

I really love when a song has a long length, but 8-10 minutes doesn't make justice to this genre. In all three songs, the lengths weren't enough for me, because they are REALLY slow songs, and just because of that, it takes a long time to get you in the right mood of the song (for me it was like ~4-5 minutes), and when you get to that point, you want to stay as long as you can, but when the song ends, i only get disappointed because i wanted more. I suppose this is fine because the songs are so similar to each one, that this genre is not about just listening to one song, but you'll have to listen to the genre as a whole. This part was hard to explain, but in resume: The songs, even if they indeed could be called long-length songs, the length is not enough, i think 12-15 minutes are perfect to get to hear the whole song. I think a fix for this is having your own playlist and listen to the genre as a whole.

Finally, im not into Electronic Genre in general, in fact i don't really like it because its way too inorganic. But this genre was a nice way to open my mind, i didn't think synth sounds could really be so harmonic and pleasing to hear.
This could sound a bit hypocrite after listening to the songs im gonna put next lol.

This was hard to criticize with my current english skills, but i could talk about it in my native language for hours and hours, it's a very rich genre and going into the very little details of every song sounds like a lots of fun to me.

I'm absolutely up for hearing more of this.
Sorry for the typos, i hope it's understandable enough.

Some interesting stuff. I don't really resonate with the genre, but the music is far from underwhelming. I can appreciate the energy it carries.

A few things are of note.

The second example sounded pretty polished and was quite nice to listen to. The percussion was pretty good, and the guitars were good. It had some decent vocals, though honestly, vocals aren't usually my focus, so eh. The mood and atmosphere is where it shines, and it has a pleasant sound profile, for the most part.

The third example had some great rhythm going with it. The atmosphere and mood it carries really attracts me. This was probably the most impactful, primarily because the progressions felt believably organic and the energy had been just right. The drums, guitars, all sounded great. Might be my favorite of the three.

I'm having difficulty making generalizations about the genre, so there isn't much I'm really able to come up with.

Overall, it's a decent genre that isn't of my taste, but I wouldn't mind listening to had a friend recommended it.
