This thread contains information as to how osu! runs in a stated build of Windows, along with any notes. Windows OSes prior to the latest tested version (unless otherwise stated) should be fine. If no notes exist for a particular build, it should work fine. Newly released OSes will likely be tested within a day or two of public availability.

- Assume that if no architecture is stated, it was tested on x64 only (can't imagine x86 giving different results though)

Format:
OS Name + Status + (Build)

Latest Windows Tested:
  1. Windows 10 Technical Preview (10.0.10056)
Previously Tested Releases:
  1. Windows 10 Technical Preview (10.0.9926)
  2. Windows 10 Technical Preview (10.0.9888)
  3. Windows 10 Technical Preview (6.4.9879)
  4. Windows 10 Technical Preview (6.4.9841)
  5. Windows 8.1 Pro x64 Update 1 (6.3.9600.17031)
  6. Windows 8.1 Pro x64 (9600)
  7. Windows 8.1 Leak x64 (9471)
  8. Windows 8 Pro x64 (9200) - If osu! crashes on startup, reinstall the .NET Framework 3.5 (includes .NET 2.0 and 3.0) feature, or fully update your OS via Windows Update
  9. Windows 8 Consumer Preview x64 (8250)
  10. Windows 8 Developer Preview x64 (8102)
  11. Windows 8 Leak x64 (7989)
  12. Windows 8 Leak x86 (7955)
If osu! doesn't work for you:
  1. Update your OS fully with Windows Update
  2. Update your drivers
  3. Verify installation of .NET Framework features
  4. Install the DirectX June 2010 Redistributable/Websetup

Runs just fine, no issues whatsoever. I think the only thing you have to do is enable the .NET 2.0 and 3.0 combined package from Windows Programs and Features, but other then that, osu! installs and works without any compatibility settings needed.

One thing I noticed.. text seems crisper maybe? In any case, text is different... (Softening filter is disabled)

Eugh, text looks uglier and way more aliased.

Now that you mention that, it does seem like the text has a look similar to when MLAA is enabled.

I'm using AMD's 2/29th WCP Drivers currently, and the MLAA option is disabled also

Yes, I concur. osu! works just fine on Windows 8 consumer preview. Running it now and no issues whatsoever.

Works fine on Win8 RTM (9200 Enterprise x64) as well :) Had some strange .NET issue earlier though that caused osu! to crash on startup, but a quick reinstall of the .NET 3.0/2.0 package fixed it.

Also works alright in Windows 7.

Oh man, that's awesome! I've been hesitant all this time because I wasn't sure if it'd work, thanks a lot for this super useful fact!
