As strange as it may sound, I saw this idea nowhere so i will suggest it here
What do you think about a ranked multiplayer ?
In my mind, it's should be possible to do like in heartstone : A match in 1vs1 (2v2 or 4vs4 ?) in BO5. those who are wining earn a point, the other one lose a point. the match is made by the number of point of the two players (nearly the same number of point)
Advantage : we can see what people are capable of instantaneous and it creat a real competitions. It's allow you to compare yourself with others players in real situation ( not in pp farming

drawback : i let's you speak about it
personally i like this way of play so i don't see drawback
