Humm, I don't seem to see a left 4 dead thread on here.
The demo is on steam now and all I can say is you should all try it. Totally one of the best Co-Op games I have played.
If you have not seen it yet Game Trailers has a lot of videos for it.

Yes. You can use some gay patches to play on official Steam servers and get banned harder than the guy who pirated the Halo 3 beta, but I recommend using Hamachi to create a virtual LAN. Works with real copies, too.

And if you want to change your name, don't forget to do in both config.cfg and config_default.cfg, or it will go back to "Powered by some site".

By the way, does anyone feel like playing a campaign on Hamachi? No mic.

Never mind, Valve thought it would be an excellent idea to remove the function for creating a LAN game unless you're logged onto Steam. No illegal zombie slaughtering without an online patch.

I don't trust the online patch. At all.
Never mind, everything works now due to hax. Connect to "osulan" with the password "left4dead" on Hamachi if you know you can play via LAN/own the game legally.

The AI in this game can be so retarded every now and then. If rescue is about to arrive, you don't stay and shoot, you run to it. And what's up with the crappy rescuers? If the zombies are nowhere near the vehicle, why leave the survivors behind?

Anyway, you'll need Steam, a patch for Steam, a cracked engine.dll for the game, the ability to toggle the console, and Hamachi to play online with a pirated copy. When you have all of that, you connect to a Hamachi network, boot up Steam, run L4D, toggle the console and type "connect *", where * = The Hamachi ID of the host.

Eventually Microsoft are going to release a Windows update which will make your computer grow legs and roundhouse kick you in the face. Even if they don't, using a computer is not fun without a monitor.

^^^ That's about how much sense you're making right now. The pirated copies are non-Steam. Connecting to a LAN game does not involve going through Valve's servers. No magical patch is going to stop this from working.

Oooh, what's this? A foolproof way to play online using a VPN. Read my posts or GTFO.

I'm about to go play it now actually. My brother bought it and I'm too lazy and cheap to buy my own copy (and Steam won't let you use the same activation code twice

) so I just play that and TF2 on his steam account.

My team never seems to win in co-op...

L4D is out for the 360? I wish I'd of known that.

I finally got the legit version on PC, and it sux. Maybe it'd be more fun if it wasn't <4fps.
Strangely, the torrented one runs at about 40.
