Not playing osu!: helpful in playing osu!?

I recently took about a month long absense from playing osu! primarily due to friends wanting to play an MMO (not that important) and found that the first map I played ended up being the 4th S rank I've ever gotten, and considering that before I took the break I was getting Bs on most songs (Out of 710 beatmaps I have 4 S and 14 A) that is pretty significant.

Has anybody else ever experienced this?

I'm gonna say...that you are getting better? ^^; I don't really understand the question. Your wording is throwing me off some :v

Okay I'll simplify it:
I used to play osu!
Then I stopped playing osu!
Then I started again and was significantly better in all ways on every song.

Happens to me quite often, although I don't exactly stop playing osu! entirely xD

If there's a map that I can't FC within a reasonable amount of tries, I just leave it and go "Oh, I'll just get back to this map in a month or something." And then I leave it for a month or something - I don't even have to be playing that much osu! within that time - and when I get back, I can usually FC it without trying too hard. 8-)

...Though to be honest, if I stop playing entirely, I generally lose a bit of skill, though that would be natural.

I had a break on December. When I came back, I started hittin' with a mouse only like a sick fuck.

I stopped playing.

I tried playing again. I was so bad that I stopped.

Now I only map.

Everyone needs to take a break once in a while, I'm getting tallon fingers just from CtB ;w;

This happens with any rhythm game, really.

If you stop playing for an extended period of time, you will get worse.

Drakari, I have the same thing. Especially with streams, in fact. Every time I stop playing for, say, one month, it takes me about 2 days to get my skill back and then I more or less significantly get better.

Which is weird but it happens.

1-2 days breaks are good. 3-** breaks are usually bad for me (for short period atleast) : /

That's exactly how I was. I played some maps, got a majority of Ds, a few months later I get Bs and now I'm getting Ss. It's like I'm a Super Saiyan. lolol

I'm better than 1 or 2 month ago.

You need stop no more than one or two weeks...

Take a rest and calm down.
Rii_old_1
it helps if you take a break for 2-4 weeks
my nii-nii took a break for a month and he became more and more pro

I need a 2-3 days break between each real playing session. Lately I've only achieved max level about 2 times a week.

you barely even play

I think this is because after a long time of playing, you get used to doing certain habits that may not be good for your play. Once you take a week or so off, you look at everything with unbiased eyes and do better because of it.
