Nintendo has a history of inviting characters from the Final Fantasy series Mario 3 on 3 Hoops, Mario Sports Mix) on second thought, Square Enix in general (Dragon Quest characters in Fortune Street)also for the fact that Nobuo Uematsu was one of the composers in Brawl, i'm sure they won't mind inviting the "Classic" Final Fantasy characters. But saying that, there could be some others who want their star character(s) in the game.

FF already have its own cross-over (dissidya), and the most famous chars are in sony systems if they will be in a cross-over it should be the smash of sony (now that exists) they fit there for the serious and stylish look of the characters, i don't undersatnd why sony didn't do it from the start.

Square-enix chars available to ninty i think are the chars of the world ends with you (at least as strikers); there already been used in cross-overs and more from ninty's side.

Now that i think; if snake is out and get into the smash of sony (AKA battle royale) and it's highly likely, the best replacement is travis touchdown with the final smash with double katana or alongside shinobu.

The only megaman that i see fit in smash (and not prostitued by capcom) is the original nintendo sprite or the mega of power battle. Bad artbox mega is used already. I think that better shadow than tails or knuckles; if you pay attention sonic is knuckles and shadow in one chararcter. He could be split easily.

PD: and layton fits = his final smash will be causing a headache.

Well, no one complained when there are TWO Links and Paper Mario is just as unique to Mario as Toon Link is to Link.
