So, this post might seem weird, but I don't actually shave my legs.
This is for a few main reasons:
1. It seems to have little to no effect on me passing
2. It encourages and perpetuates harmful gender stereotypes
3. It's very time consuming and not worth the effort since it grows back so fast
As for #1, this might be hard to believe, but it seems to have little to no effect on me passing. Like, it seems people rarely ever look at my legs or something, cause the times I've shaved my legs, I've noticed no difference in the number of times I've been misgendered. This is no joke. I've been told that if anything, the main thing that gives me away is my flat figure and my face (and I've asked quite a few people).
As for #2, well, this one's self-explanatory. The whole idea that women should shave their legs came from an advertising campaign, which somehow stuck and became a societal norm. I doubt one person will make a difference, but I might as well stand up for what I believe in.
As for #3, I need to explain this one a bit more. I have a lot of leg hairs, and I also have very long legs on account of me being tall. The average time it takes me to shave me legs is in the ball park of 1h 20m, which is not a small amount of time by any means: My first time was even worse, taking 2h and 10m. I've tried electric and manual razors, and neither of them make much of a difference, electric is only better because you don't have to clean out the hairs every 5 seconds, but they can't handle large volumes of hair very well, so it's more or less the same.
And even if I could shave off let's say, 15 minutes, it would still be 1h 5m, which is less, but still a while. I would be willing to make that sacrifice, but the thing is, my leg hair grows back fast. So I'll shave it once, and then a week later, it's more or less back to how it was before I shaved, making the entire process pointless in the first place.
