Boy: If a boy watches yaoi he's gay, but if a girl watches yuri she's lesbian

Girl: If a boy watches yaoi, he's gay, but if a girl watches yuri, it's fine

I've asked other people too, they had the same response tf?

i can imagine girls tending to not assume something to be sexual/for sexual reasons as often + expecting that tendency in other girls

i kinda like yuri even though i don't like girls sexually

i still like it romantically/emotionally

but either way anyone can do ??? without being ??? :(

Yuri and Yaoi both originated from the shoujo genre in the 1980's they both target girls as their demographic. It is only as bishoujo became more popular did yuri become more gender neutral in it's appeal. Yaoi is a similar story as the character's are more akin to being androgynous than strictly male, yaoi isn't designed to be gay or appeal to gay men; Bara is.

It's also written in the Bible that it's forbidden for a man to have sex with a man, but there's nothing that explicitly forbids a woman to have sex with a woman.

You could go in to complex reasons, but i suffices to say that sexuality in men and women are two very different things, thus women can watch both yuri and yaoi without being suspect of the same ulterior motivations as men.
