I have thought for a long time that one of weaker areas of the game is the inability for new players to enter top ranks, due to the difficulty of getting pp (without farming) and thew high learning curve that ends up putting most prospective players off the game.
Now I don't believe OSU should become easier, as that is a vital part of the game - its difficulty - however it is my belief that there should still be the possibility of new players breaking into the top ranks

HOW I PLAN TO DO THIS
In all honesty my solution is quite simple, have seasonal pp rankings E.G. have a pp count that resets every 1-2 months and works in parallel with your overall pp to give you a better idea of where you stand and what rank you're entitled to, it is my belief that this would greatly increase the playerbase by seeming a lot less daunting.
An example of a game that has had a similar strategy to this is overwatch, with great success.
Now do understand I'm not saying take overall pp away completely all I'm saying is have a pp system run alongside it to both encourage more competitiveness and be less daunting to new players.
also the reason it would increase competitiveness is because you would have to actively play to not lose your top rank and thus would also reward people for more tim spent in game with high acc/combo .
