Elfen Lied: Drama+Violence

School Rumble: Dumb romance+Comedy xd

Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu: Science Fiction and.... weird but cool...

Kanon 2006: Drama+Fantasy... I don't usualy like Fantasy but Kanon has its magic... Is not only my fav anime... is my fav show/serie of the world...by far...but I don't guarantee you will like it because you must feel identified with it in some way.... if you don't, forget it.

I didn't watch much anime so that's all I can say...

It scares me to realize I've watched every single anime suggested in this thread so far (except anohana, the basis of the storyline hits me way too close to home to enjoy watching it)

Out of all of the suggestions in this thread, the one most out of place is Elfen Lied. It's basically torture porn with no real layers to its story, with a lot of blood and tits and a great score attempting to mask it. Seriously, don't watch it.

Also, I'd recommend the following:
  1. Eden of the East
  2. Revolutionary Girl Utena (allegorical lesbians)
  3. Kuragehime
  4. Red Garden (if you can ignore the hurrdurr fantasy elements)
  5. Aria the Animation

I don't think you got what I meant at all. While yes, I don't like Elfen Lied, you have to understand the following things that are unforgivable in any form of media:
  1. Appearing to have a cohesive theme and just twiddling your thumbs at the potential of such themes existing
  2. Masking character depth by giving them potentially great personalities and using most of them for exposition
  3. Having any messages or themes being a mess underneath the surface
Three huge cardinal sins, but I could go on. It also doesn't fit his description. There's enough tits in this to qualify as an ecchi title. Besides, if all I had to say on Elfen Lied was in that post, I'd be ashamed of myself. Think of it as an oversimplification to save time. I could write a full critique, but tl;dr: shit sucks.

Also, I thought K-ON! was boring as fuck and Ergo Proxy had its head up its own ass. Your imitation was also poor at best.

Finally, another actual suggestion: Honey and Clover.

i'm agree with Mogsworth, elfen lied it's only a blood and ecchi combination, only that. in the otaku club that I go, no one recommends it, is crap

so as not distort, another good anime it's Rosen Maiden

It's ok if you don't like Elfen Lied, but it appears to be that you paid more attention to the scenes that are not important... but... torture porn? porn? ._. why? I find Elfen Lied as a Dramatic-Tragedic anime... not the best one I've seen but I think it's good at least to me... I don't pay attention on self-nudity scenes... they are just irrelevant for the serie.

My suggestions:
+1 for Natsume Yuujinchou series, beautiful stories indeed :)
G.A Geijutsuka Art Design Class is one I guess, esp if you like art, it's pretty funny.
After that, Norageki, 1 episode OVA, a pretty fun watch too.
Aria(the animation, the natural, the origination,ova, etc), a good, relaxing anime(I'm still at 2nd season though), when you have nothing to do in your free time, I suggest you watch this.
and maybe Kamichu!

Right, but I think in almost all animes are irrelevant and stupid things, it doesn't matter how good the anime is at the end... I just don't pay attention to those things... yes, you're right, it could be better if they just remove those things, but meh.

Not really. The ending and the first half of episode one were really the worst parts of the series. The ending wasn't even half bad, it was just really overdramatic. However, the characters managed to be multi-layered and interesting while still being sympathetic throughout an 11-episode series. Not to mention the fact that A-1 Pictures knows how to make pretty titles. It's quite the remarkable drama, easily one of the best titles of 2011.

Seconding G.A Geijutsuka Art Design Class only if you actually know some art terms. Since some of the jokes sort of require you to know what defines modern and abstract art. If you don't understand the humor by the end of episode 1, I would suggest not watching it.

Also, as people has said, everyone's tastes differ, so it is sort of pointless to say why certain shows suck unless it is following the op's taste.

yuru yuri : it's not exactly a yuri anime, it's more of shoujo ai (girl's love) without any sexual scene
puella magi madoka magica : dark & depressive anime, but has a quite joyful ending

Baccano is a bit tricky to follow but it's still a great show. Feel free to check out Durarara!! afterwards which is another great anime from the same people who made Baccano.
