Improving Methods?

Well basically, I'm kinda new, so I'd like to know how to improve.
By that I don't mean fast, and I don't mind how long it takes. I just like to improve from my standard.
People say practice, but practice exactly what?

What difficulty of maps?
Maps that I can play well? Maps I constantly fail in? Maps I MAY be able to pass?

Is hidden good for improving my coordination/rhythm to beats? Is double time good for providing reflex to fast beats?

I hope people may shed some light on this topic and provide me some insight please.
This may be a dubious question, but I'm just lying in the dark here >_>

Thanks. Any Help is Appreciated :)

James Training.

Ahem... Just play maps you can just barely pass, or just barely fail. Don't think too much about S'ing them, but proceed to play harder maps when you're sure to pass them.

Play alot and play hard songs that you really like. Set standards, as in get a song that is hard (Not too hard, just hard enough for you to go through about 50 retries or 100 retries before passing, you won't know it anyways) and try to finish it and then put it as a bench mark, everytime you start your game, play this song first and the proceed to the others. Everytime you end your game, play this song as well and see if there is any difference. If you do see a difference, you know your playing got you somewhere already that day. Rinse and repeat forever. Thats how I play the game. Of course, I enjoy it, might sound like a military explanation here but those hard songs are the ones I just can't keep myself from not playing.

the way to do well on hard maps is to be able to play even harder maps

Play stuff that's out of your league, once you get better at it play even harder shit, eventually add hardrock/double time to the songs.

At first, use halftime on harder maps to learn the sequence of beats. Often your perception of when a beat should hit with the music will differ from the mappers decision.

have fun, too ^^
I usually just get the songs that I like (keep in mind clicking the pic thumbnail lets you hear a sample of the song) and play the hardest difficulty that I barely can pass on(Insane?). then, I'll try to get an S on a lower difficulty(Hard?). Repeat, and soon enough you will manage to *barely* S rank the difficulty that you passed on and its incredibly satisfying. :D

What I did was play Normal till I mastered it, moved on to Hard and practised till I can SS every hard and then just move to insane and practice practice practice practice

Try fapping practicing fast songs with Relax on to improve mouse coordination, and doing Taiko with Relax for streaming.

Just hit the hard songs with spun out and nofail on untill you get better.

Worked for me except I was stupid enough to not put spun out on, NOW LOOK AT MY ACCURACY ;w;

I love HD+DT,tht is funny~

I don't recommend using relax mode for standard. You need dual-hand coordination to play osu! standard not just sight reading. Unless you play with only the mouse then this still applies. Just keep going faster and learning how patterns work. Do easy things on Double Time or Hard Rock.
